Hi guys,

just wondering if anyone has used Ni-Cd's in their Zap, Zoom, Shogun 400. I know that 99% of you use Lipo's ...but has anyone tired a bunch of say Sanyo 2400's?? If the Robbe Eolo and Logo guys can find a weigh/power match, surely we could?? Looking for a cheaper alternative and want to experiment.

If you have used then:

Results?

How many in the pack?

Recommendations?

Thanks.

Logan.

It'd make a novel table ornament with the blades spinning.

It might make a better paper weight than table ornament, since it would hold down the papers it's on and blow away the rest.

Seriously, it might hover, but I don't think the nicads could put out enough power to over come there weight. You have to keep in mind that it would take 9 or 10 nicad cells to equal the voltage of a 3 cell lipo pack. You would also have to spread the nicad cells out all over the airframe in order to maintain a balanced center of gravity.

That why these "new" micros are just now really happening, lipo technology. How many good micro's were around before lipos?

LogieBerra, I think your estimate of 99% for lipo users in the Shogun is on the low side.

hi
nicads would work great , just leave the pack on the floor and use a tether , other then that i agree you would just be building a good doorstop

Going by the Chinese knock offs, and the NiMh's hanging on them it should work, but dont expect a very nice flight or a long one for that matter. Too heavy to be fun.

Warning...This hobby is very addictive and may damage your wealth
