Hello, very new to the micro electric helis, i come from all nitro with a Hirobo Freya and Sceadu, and ive been reading these forums all night and since 7 this morning.. Im looking for advice and direction on stuff i need for an elite chopper for now im going for the best electronics and i will catch up with ccpm and frame mods etc once im more comfortable and dont cost myself tons of cash by crashing. So far i have picked out, a GY401, Berg 6 DSP, and AXI 2208/20, looking for the rest of what i need and would appreciate the help.

You will need to keep it very light to use that motor. There are more powerful motors out there that do not rquire a t-rex diet. Unless you are looking for an ultra lite setup I would try another motor.

The Kv on the 2208/20 is so low (1880) that the 15T pinion is only going to get you 2000 RPM head speed at best case unloaded. When you apply any pitch the RPMs will drop drastically. As was suggested, you'll have to keep the heli really light for reasonable performace.

I'd suggest going with the Mega 16/15/3 or Neu 1105-3Y motors. They are a little more expensive but are worth the price. If you are looking for ultimate performance, go with a high voltage setup of 4s or more.

ok, thanks for the replies. Im wondering what you mean by high voltage setup of 4s or more? please dumb it down for me, as i said come from a nitro background How about servos?? im reading a lot of different things, most point towards the hitec 56's and a 50 for the tail? and the ESC? Plans are for this bird for now is leave it stock and eventually lighten it and mod it like crazy, and if that requires a 2nd set of equip for the switch over thats fine, and i have a very generous budget so please lay it on

Here you go:

Mega 16/15/3 13tooth pinion
TP 2100 3 cell
cc 35 esc
3 hs 56
1 hs50
GY401
RX of choice

this will power a stock t-rex nicely.

for the ultimate setup you will want to go high voltage. 4 cell and up.

Mega 16/15/5 13 tooth
Tanic 1550 5 cell
kontronic esc
same servos and gyro.

would be a good HV setup

the 'S' relates to the number of battery packs in series, 3S is nominal 11.1V, 4S is 14.8V, just add 3.7V per cell. I'm using HS55 servos with an HS50 on the tail, the HS56 is a better option than the 55's. I'm running the Typhoon equivalent of the Mega 16/15/3 with an Align 25A esc. I was using a CC P25 but find the Align better although there's no governor mode (but one on the way). In the UK the TP packs are pretty rare so I'm using FlightPower (Duralite) 2500mAh packs to good effect with near 16 minutes duration.

alrighty, im trying to order as much as i can from one place to save the hassle of more shipping costs and convienence, they seem to be out of the CC35 esc, will the kontronic esc work out nicely with the mega 16/15/3, tp 2100 3cell, 3 hs 56s and the one hs50?? seems to be a higher end ESC; and do i want the jazz or smile if i go this route? thanks again!

Jazz 40-16-8 will work great. Also capable of running up to 6 cells with the bec enabled!

Check out modefos or fxaeromodels for all in one ordering.
