Money is not an issue. I have Futaba 9CH, I want to get the best receiver for the T-rex. Best meaning least prone to glitches. I'm debating between Berg and Hitec.

Both are good but the Hitec is a dual conversion rx. I went with the hitec.

We all run bergs over my way, zero clitches, but as far as I know you cant find a berg at this point in time because castle creations bought out berg and is redesigning the rec. Did put in a electron 6 for a guy and put a map antenna on it , but I only test flew it close quarters, for a flight to set it up, but it didnt have any issues. hope this helps

electron 6 fits nicley between the frames and is pretty light. 555 might be a little to big and on the heavy side but would work.

I am a strong Berg believer too. Ever since I replaced my Electron 6 with a Berg 6 I have never experienced a glitch at all. I recently purchased my second Berg 6 from AIR CRAFT world. (http://www.aircraft-world.com/shopd...dio+-+RECEIVERS) They still have Berg 6 at a very attractive price. I don't think that will last long. I just started testing out Sombra Labs "Shadow 3" 7-channel receiver also. This seems to be a good DSP receiver too. One thing for sure, I will never go back to a non-DSP receiver again, at least for helicopters.

The Sombra receivers are terrific. I have a Shadow1 and it provides glitch-free service and is very light and compact. The fact that's it has a programmable frequency puts it ahead of all other receivers IMHO.

FMA Quantum 6 Receiver
I go with the FMA six channel, which is a full-featured, full-range, dual conversion receiver that weighs a mere 14gm (0.5 oz)!

It is a big bore receiver in a micro package.

It's easy to find an excuse to do wrong. Hard is not to find an excuse to do right.

I use an electron 6. Once the antena was routed well i have not had any glitches.

also check out this thread: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=352291

a couple recievers were mentioned there that i have never used (Multiplex Micro IPD and the other is the Shulze Alpha 835). They sound expensive,

Even with Castle`s buy out of Berg, there`s still a lot of burg 5`s out there. Never had any problems with it.

How did THAT get in there?

Like Thunder21 I have the Shadow 1 by Sombra Labs. Works fine and can be set to any frequency with the little module that comes with it. It is synthesized, dual conversion, very tiny and weighs next to nothing. I have mine fastened on the front of the pitch/collective servo mounting frame.

Ok, no GWS then.... I hate glitches. Another opinion I was think was to get the standard Futaba 7channel receiver and take out the box and shrink wrap it. I think it weights 1.5oz.

I know that there is another american manufacturer using berg crystals. I wish I could provide you with a name. A buddy at the field kept talking about it then it finally arrived and I did see it. It is only $35 for a generic berg reciever. It did have some kinda of signal protecton like the DSP. It might even be the same as DSP. Ill make a call later on tonight to talk to my buddy. I need to tell him something anyway. Doesnt anyone know what Im reffering to . If I remember the reciever was white?
