guillaume83 rrApprentice Toulouse (France), home of the A380 | Hi all,I am thinking of switching my Eolo to 6s because: 1/ I have 4 x TP 3s 2100 which I use on their own or in // in 3 different models. 2/ I could sell my TP 3s3p Gen2Lite = I reduce the number of packs I have, and after selling the Twist 37,I'd have a nice budget for a new motor. Am I right in thinking that I can keep the Jazz 40-6-18 for a 6s set up? I do NOT like Aveox....and I have seen the Plettenberg Orbit 15/12-14 (Outrunner) advertised on the ICare website as a motor for a 6s set up (with a 22t pinion). Has anyone heard about them? What do you think looking at the Kv?Orbit 15-12 has a 1210 Kv Orbit 15-14 has a 1080 Kv It looks like a tempting choice but obviously i would not like to be the guinea pig. What are my other choices beyond the Aveox? Lehner????... I quite fancy an outrunner actually. Thank for your input Guillaume ps:the Plettenberg website is http://www.plettenberg-motoren.com

rocheleaud rrNovice Montreal, canada | Hi Guillaume,Those pleti are wonderfull motor ( have a 30-12 and a 25-14 on two logo10) ... and this one will work ( hey , i am the one who tested it on my Eolo for Etienne , the owner of Icare ) ... it worked great but after saying that , i must say that it's a big motor ( in diameter ) for this helicopter and a big pinion . I did had difficulties fitting it on the Eolo ... it's not a bolt on solution . I also tried the mega 22-03 heli for 6s on the Eolo ( i think but i will have to ckeck the exact number back home ) ... verry nice motor ... you can put a Fan on it and work much cooler than the Aveox ... need to check back home the pinion that i used . And yes , the jazz will work without external BEC on 6s ( that's what i am using ) ...

guillaume83 rrApprentice Toulouse (France), home of the A380 | Hi Rocheleaud and thanks for your response, fitting the motor is no problem,i don't mind if it is not a bolt on solution.I'd just like something different and outrunners quite tempt me actually. What difference between the /12 and /14 have you found? The spreadsheet for both motors are here http://www.icare-rc.com/plettenberg_orbit15.htm Do you know what the peak amps consumption is? Did you have any problems finding a 22t pinion with 5mm bore? Guillaume ps:I don't know if you remember,we were in touch a while ago about Reflex XTR..got it in the end![]() ![]()

askman rrApprentice willamette valley, Oregon | 22tooth 5mm pinion is a stock robbe item for eolo. I was planning on running my eolo with C40L9 and 4S. (I have 22/20/2 with 18 pinion on 3S right now) I do have 22/20/3, which would be nice on 6S as well. (may be better for it since I have 4-3S2600 packs). hmm, choices. I could adapt a fan onto my 22/20/3H with 1/8" shaft motor easily enough and go with 14 tooth pinion. I can fit a b50 heat sink onto it fairly easily as well.... (or may be kontronics 600 heatsink) I have b50 heatsink on my 22/20/3. choices choices...

CustomPC rrVeteran Sydney, NSW - Australia | The Pleti's look nice on paper. They look quite mild as far as HV setups go.rocheleaud, i'd guess you tried the Mega 22/20/3H which looks like it would work well on 6S too. I doing the same exercise. Trying to rationalize my LiPo packs.I'm going to be testing the Medusa MR-028-056-1900 as soon as my package arrives from the US. The numbers look very good. guillaume83, have you seen the KC spreadsheet? You can get from the top of the Electric Heli's groups at RCGroups and it is an invaluable tool. It takes a little while to work out but once you figure it out you'll never do without it again. The Cyclon 4000 is not a good choice.

CustomPC rrVeteran Sydney, NSW - Australia | The 500-19 also looks good and is one that i considered. The numbers are so close to the Medusa i've ordered. I suspect the Kontronic will have more torque as it's a larger motor and it is a more effecient motor. It's 40gm heavier than the common Eolo powerplants.

![]() rrApprentice Erie, PA, USA | I would be really interested in finding out how the Kontronik's 500-19 would preform with 6s Li-Poly's. I am not happy with the Aveox and it's High running Temps. Thanks, John

guillaume83 rrApprentice Toulouse (France), home of the A380 | After I posted this,I wondered if it would be possible to find 14/15/16t pinion for a 5mm shaft. I'd be quite tempted by this motor if yes.I was pointed this one by the guys at Hoellein in Gerrmany. They haven't tried 6s on it but have flown an Eolo on 5s with this motor and 17t (or 18) pinion. You say it's 40gr heavier and you're right, but the Lenher 1930-6 is even heavier at 230gr. Guillaume

guillaume83 rrApprentice Toulouse (France), home of the A380 | I found a UK dealer who stocks Kontronik but they did not have the Fun 500-19 But they only had Ikarus pinions....anyone knows if they'll fit?
Otherwise,I was thinking I could put my existing pinions on a lathe and machine the hole to 5mm.
Sounds like there will be a Twist 37 and TP 3s3p 6000mAh Gen2Lite for sale soon

msg73 rrApprentice NJ | You could also try the Lehner 1930/6. It can be setup to use either 3s or 6s. Even on 3s, there's been good reports. No reports on 6s, but it should be a monster!

guillaume83 rrApprentice Toulouse (France), home of the A380 | msg73,I was considering the Lehner too but the high price tag and the lack of local availability sort of put me off it a bit. CustomPC, I read your post, but the store I phoned only had Ikarus ones and I wanted to try and order everything from the same place. I am now pretty sure I am going to go for a Fun 500,but I noticed the -21 seems to be performing VERY closely to the -19. Could anyone enlighten me on the difference between the 2 on the KC Spreadsheet? Amps consumption is pretty much the same (Kv is 2100 for the -21) Any advantage for one over the other in terms of pinion size? Thank you Guillaume

CustomPC rrVeteran Sydney, NSW - Australia | guillaume83,Just make sure you order the Logo 20 pinions with part numbers 30** ie, a 10T pinion is part number 3010 and a 11T is 3011 etc. Pinions are available in sizes from 10T to 18T.
