I recently acquired a Voyager E used, but supposedly not flown. I was wondering, since the head comes pre-assembled, how much slop should there be? I have read that they are a bit soft, but with this one you can grab the blade grips and move them laterally each way about 1/4 inch or so. Is this too loose? Is this how the head comes in the kit?
I'd like to create less play and am wondering if anyone has any tips on what kind of wrench(socket) to use to tighten the spindle bolts?

Any info would be appreciated.

How much would you expext to pay for a K&S full metal head and swash set up, $250? $300?. Well the Quick head is a full metal set up and is every bit as nice as the K&S stuff and the complete heli is only $304 US dollars here in OZ. I am sure you can get the cheaper kit without the motor and muffler as well. That would probably put it at about $200 US.

BUY a Quick 15 without the motor/muffler, keep the head and swash and metail tail assembly and trash the rest! That is if your keen enough. I think its worth it. I had a quick15 before i purchased the VE, but knowning what i know now i would definately buy a Quick 15 for the head (It makes the VE that good!)

I hope this heaps. Its hard to convince people to spend large amounts of money but you wont be dissapointed with this upgrade. Also, if you dont want to spend the money, try flipping the head. I makes the heli track better.

Well, I removed the blade grips last night and discovered that the way it is, the spindle is too long unless washers are added between the lock nuts and the grip bearings. The threads on the spindle only go in about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch which would account for the slop I have. I hadn't even progressed to any tracking issues yet, just an unreasonable amount of play in the blade grips. I am going to install a couple of flat washers in each grip between the grip bearing and the spindle locknuts to remove the play. I'll try that first and see if I have any tracking issues.

I can't seem to find a Quick 15. Is the Quickie .18 the same thing?

Oh well, at least I have my Logo 10 to fly while I figure the Voyager out. Hope I'm not too disappointed in the Voyager.

The Quickie 18 has the same head as the 15. You can use the entire assembly from the swash up on the VE. The only mod that has to be done is a slight enlargement of the anti-rotation link where the pin slides up and down in it. I had to widen mine about 1mm to allow unrestricted movement.

Anyone in here try the K &S metal blade grip? Do they have the same amount of slop? Please give your comment, as I am getting confused. The plastic rotor head is a joke by JR, blade tracking almost impossible, it various every day and every wind conditon, sometime it spend a full charge battery pack to tune the blade into tracking
I have check up the Quick web site, and they do not sell the 18 quick rotor alone Do I have to buy a brand new Quick 18 and throw away anything and keep the rotorhead, swash etc. ?

Can anyone help?

To the best of my knowledge, you can't buy the Quick head by itself anywhere. I got mine by finding a used Quick 15 online and buying the whole thing then taking the parts I needed for the VE and reselling the rest.

Although buying the entire kit for just the head may seem a bit nuts, the price of all the K&S upgrades to the head are probably as much or more. Both are good options and are major improvements over the stock parts, I just happen to prefer the feel of the Quick head over the K&S upgrades.

Ralphw,

Thanks for your information. It is a little sad to hear that it cannot be bought alone.
And I have just bought the K & S Blade Grip today, it still have a very small amount of slop in the grip, very small, and I will try out later and see if they have better blade tracking.
The modification on the head that I told you does not really work, it wobbing in a strong wind condition, and I learnt another modification it could have done on the head, and I shall try it out and update later.

Cheers
