Go for the NGK and you won't be sorry. When I changed from the stock plug to the CR7HIX, I found that starting became easier, the engine was smoother, tuning was easier, and maybe, just maybe a bit more power.

When I say tuning became easier, one thing I mean by that is a given low end mixture seemed to work for a wider range of headspeeds. With the stock plug I found it almost impossible to have proper tuning for both 1750 RPM and 1950 RPM head speeds. A setting that was right for 1950 was too rich for 1750. With the NGK that was no longer a problem.

These plugs do not come with caps, I purchased some cheap autolite plugs at advance and just used the caps from them.

True
some guys run them without the caps. On the P-gasser, the plug wire is a tight enough fit that it doesn't arc or cause a problem.

I personally go down to the local auto parts store and buy a couple of throw-down $.99 plugs. The clerk is usually aghast when I ask her to throw them away.

Go down to your local motorcycle dealer or repair shop. The mechanics will usually have spare screw-on caps for the plugs as some motorcycles use them and some don't.

I got 4 plugs last week and 4 free caps from the mechanic.

The plugs really brought my stock 231 to life.

Cheapest NGK CR7HIX
$6.95 at your local Advanced Auto Parts. They go by stock # 7544, and will have it ready for store pickup the next day. You can buy as many or as few as you need, all at only $6.95 plus tax....no charge for shipping!

Believe me, this is cheaper than even sparkplugs.com, considering you don't have to pay rediculous $9 shipping charge.

I have the same experience here with advance auto parts. They rock since what they dont have comes out of KC overnight and is here the next day! Another large warehouse parts store here in town quoted me 3 weeks delivery for the stock plugs and couldnt get the irridium plugs!

sponsored by generous people that give tips to thier limo driver
