If one has a number of helis, and all are fitted with nicads and you often fly more than one of them during the same day at hte field, what is the best charger in terms of bang for buck(featurewise) and functionality?

Does the dent in wallet ever equal the dent in the ground?

G'Day Neighbour.

This all depends on how into it u get but I just bit the bullet and got a super nova 3000.
Charges everything from nicad to lipo etc (including lead acid)
Cost me $230.00 aussie.
It takes about 15minutes to quick charge 1100 mah 4.8v battery. Plenty of time to never have to stop fueling your heli

Its fully electronic and auto or manual modes for charge / discharge etc with memories for custom charging etc.

I run a 1400mah and 1100mah and have a spare radio batt:
I can fly all day with this and only 1 x 12v 7amph to supply the charger 12 volt power and to start my rappy TT39 and Falcon OS50.

I suppose I could have gotten a cheaper one but im addicted to helis too and im sure one day I will use all the features

Another vote for the triton, love mine.

Can charge anything with it, even your car battery if you want to.

The downside to the Triton is it will only charge/cycle one pack at a time. Other than that, I love the features and ease of use.

The Hobbico Accu-Cycle Elite has two independent, programmable outputs. Goes for $150 including an AC power supply.

slz,
The orginal poster stated he has all NiCds.

For utmost simplicity there is always the Hobbico Quick Field Charger Mark II for around $50.

Slz,
The AstroFlight 109 charger is a Li-Poly only charger. How are you charging your NiCd and NiMh packs with it?

I would certainly recommend the Elite over the Mk II. But everyone has different needs and different price levels.

Wow such a variety and i bet we have only just scratched the surface.

Looks like Triton are the best but only charge 1 pack at a time, quite a major drawback I would imagine.

So does one buy two such chargers to be able to get max flying time?

Does the dent in wallet ever equal the dent in the ground?
