Hi All,

Does anyone know if the new OS 37 heli engine will fit in a Concept 30? Im so tired of the rich/lean problem with my 32sx H.

I would think so, it's supposed to be exactly the same mounting dimensions as the OS32.

Yes
Hey,
I just replaced the OS32 with the OS37.....same exact outer dimensions. The inside is different! I had to slightly modify my locking tool for the OS37.....

Bart I just found out the same thing. The crank lock tool won't fit over the bottom of the connecting rod. I also found out the carb and needles are bigger and I have had to dremel the frame on my Shuttle to get it to fit in the frames.

Hi Again,

The OS37 provides great power, however I must check my negative pitch. She seemed to loose altitude inverted, unless I stalled the blades?
Then after performing a minature airshow I was hovering (must have got hypnotized!) I took off over my head and smacked into a tree! I was in shock, because I know that tree was there.
Because of all the after market things I've been purchasing, I almost have her flying again. I need a flybar, and paddles. Maybe the canopy hardware. However, my trip keeps getting delayed day by day so I can't place an order. I'll place an order on my return trip........

I have 3 Concept 30srx running with OS 37 s , no problem with fit. But they use much more fuel and you have to change the mufflers to get the best out of them. 32 stuff is just not big enough. Having said that I also have two others still on 32's with tuned pipes and they are also good.

If you are not familiar with tuned pipes
you may have difficultly getting to perform properly

You can get the inexpensive Helimax tuned pipe from Tower hobbies in the USA.

I used this for a few years on my Concept32 VR. It mounts pretty easily and works well. I didn't have to fuss with it at all, just strapped it on and flew.

I have used number of different pipes. The regular stuff you get from Tower hobbies is ok. And so is hatori. But my best performers custom made ones from a while back and are no longer available. One is a 21 size car pipe with an extended center section, but they dont make them anymore and the other is a pure tuned pipe and i had to add the silencing. To sum up go with Hatori or what ever mail order best suits you. I use a head speed of 1850 rpm and have shortened my pipes to suit. If you dont want to mess with all this just try and get a hatori 338 (not made anymore, but some may still have it) and bolt on and fly . they are very good and silent and almost as powerfull as the best tuned pipe.

No.

The Concept 30 sr/srx has a main gear ratio of nearly 10 (9.76) and at 1850 head speed, the engine has to do 18000 rpm. For that performance and using the regular concept goose neck manifold (11cm legnth to the exhaust port) you need 13 cm to the largest diameter of the tuned pipe. I.E Total length ca. 24 cm.
if you can get hold of one of those pipes with a spring loaded baffle (ie the internal volume changes with pressure/rpm) and double outlets that they use for r/c cars you can modify to suit, which can give you a broder band, but probably not worth the trouble. Just get a Hatori (unfortunately I throw away all my boxes and can't give you a number) of right volume and cut to lenght.

cheers

Tugrul

i noticed a few senior pilots flying 30size ships with some interesting exhausts the first thing i gather is the none restrictiveness of the exhast.Several heli magazines show by graph that open exhaust and low (5-10%) nitro out performs mufflers.I was thinking os 37 wiith factory muffler should add up just right while replacing .32
