whats the best colour to paint the canopy so it is easier to see when flying quite far away?? Tried yellow, which was ok, black and white was a disaster.

cheers

Now here's interesting for you.

My R 90 canopy has dayglo red, yellow and orange vinyl panels and is VERY visible. Rick's R 90 is painted bright yellow and has some blue decals. Yesterday in Manchester UK was a dull grey overcast, light not real good. Rick was practicing inward proper circuits, you know, the ones where you fly a square shaped pattern.

After a couple of minutes we could see he was struggling on the nose in section at the left side of the circuit. He put the heli down and asked if he could borrow my canopy! Strange request but I agreed.

Result, no more problems seeing the heli!

All these fancy paint jobs IMHO are a waste of time if you can't see the heli in the air. Rick's paint job ain't fancy, just the wrong yellow.

Ch**st, can you imagine flying a scale Huey with camaflage colours on a grey day?

I absolutely agree... the paint job is a waste of time if you can't see it.
I have no trouble seeing mine, in any orientation, therefore I don't think it's a waste of time.
By the way, the yellow on mine is 2002 Viper Race Yellow (for you PPG people), and the Orange is an off the shelf florescent. Not sure of the brand. I can check with my painter if you guys are interested. It's really not a complex paint job, just a simple fade with my own vinyl graphics.

You guys have come up with cool paint jobs. For a newbie starting out, is it worth the time and trouble to paint one up or would I be better served by just putting on the stickers that come with the kit?

Just keep with the standard canopy and use the supplied stickers whilst learning to hover. When you start flying around is the time to go for DAYGLO!
