A larger pinion is an option, but it comes with diminishing returns. The motor is going to have to work harder just to turn up the blades and in turn wastes a lot of the energy you were counting on just maintaining the headspeed. If it can maintain the headspeed, it's likely doing so at the cost of efficiency and resulting in lower flight times. It doesn't help that the VE requires a higher headspeed than some helis to get it's best performance (anything less than 13-1400 is a recipe for disaster).
Right, but the AXI motors have a lot of torque and you could use a larger pinion gear to make up for the lack of rpm.
Don't misunderstand me, I'm NOT saying it wouldn't work, just that the odds of it being a top performing combo is unlikely. If you try it, let us know how it does as most everyone I know is always on the lookout for a good option to the Hacker (especially with the current exchange rate
