Thinking about installing a RevLock in my
Futura but as you know, getting to the
bottom of the fan (esp w/a YSengine) can
be a PITA.

Cant use the top of the crown gear since that
is at head RPM, not engine RPM

Was considering gluing the magnet to the
top of the 6mm receiver (S4651) but the
small diameter might be a problem.

Anyone have some outside the box thinking
on this?

Hi,

some people use 3 magnets on top of the crown with 3:1 ratio (GV1).

I guess there's no way you get around drilling the fan for the TJ though... you could try to drill the fan hole from the top or something but I guess it's the easiest to take the engine out.

On my Century Hawk, I put the magnet in the clutch bell. I dont see why you can't do this on the Futura. On the TJ the distance for the magnets is only a recomendation. The TJ will work with the magnets closer in.

are you familiar w/ the clutch bell/belt setup?
That doesn't look possible.

Anyway, on further examination, I don't think
mounting the Revlock sensor on the Futura will
be problem. I realized that the sensor is so much
smaller than the GV1 (mag or optical) that I
could shimmy the CSM mount up between
teh screws that hold the carbon fan shroud mount
on, as long as the sensor faces the front of the
machine, not the rear (the screws would get in
the way). This is on the exhaust side.

Sure am. Have a Futura setting right in front of the computer. Looks quite possible to me. Drill a 4mm hole in the top of the clutch bell, glue the maganet in and make a bracket for the sensor. No hill for a stepper. You could just mount the magnets in the fan where there are indents for and be done with it. Yes it is difficult to get to, behind the fan housing mounts and all but how often do you expect to be in there anyway?
