Ok, I'm confused, at 50% collective EPA my Predator has just over 1/2 a degree of pitch. Both blades are the same so the tracking should be ok...

However, at maximum collective I have 14 degrees and at minimum collective I have -10 degrees.

How do I knock 2 degrees off the maximum collective and put that on the minimum collective? I imagine it's either push rods B or C (or both)???

Thanking you...

PUSHROD A
The two shortest on the head....shorten those until there is about 2 turns from touching.

Call me in the morning...

The short links are wound in as far as they can go (hitting the end inside the plastic rod ends - but have 2mm or 3mm of link rod showing between the rod ends).

That's why I was going to shorten the long rods, but then I would loose my 50% setup, I guess I would have to lengthen the short rods on the head at that point???

Thanks heaps

hmmmm
you have the aluminum A arm on this heli?

IF SO, THEN LENGTHEN THE CCPM PUSHRODS FROM THE BELLCRANKS TO SWASH BY 2 TURNS...AND ALSO TURN THE LINK ON THE A ARM COUNTERCLOCKWISE 2 TURNS.

Then adjust the long rods @ 50% pitch for zero.

That's a handy technique to note as I do want to put the aluminium A arm on at a later date - but at the moment she is all standard / plastic

Then STOP
and get the metal A arm.

You can cut the OAL of the short pushrod so they can make up flush.

Seriously, the metal a arm is a MUST IMHO. Friends don't let friends fly plastic A arms.

Thanks james, for sure I will install it, but at the moment I am only doing forward flight and slow flat figure 8's so I think she will be ok for a while

Jafa,

I agree with James, well on this issue anyway, I don't fly my Predators without the metal "A" arm either.

Just my opinion.....there's just too much invested to trust a piece of plastic that has had a history of problems.

Jafa,

Now for the things I DISagree with James on, setting up the collective pitch range.

I prefer to set the mechanics up to the swash by the book, i.e. set the swash level with the bellcranks 90 degrees to the main shaft. Then adjust both the short rods AND the long rods to the mixers as necessary to get the mixers level with the blade pitch at 0 degrees.

Then set the AFR and the pitch curves to get the pitch ranges you want.

Put a 20mm block above the bearing block and disconnect the linkages, drop the swash so it rests flush on the block, now adjust all your linkages to that hight. Set your collective to mid stick and adjust rods A and B to achive 0 pitch at mid stick, this will give you +11/12 and -11/12

I've used this same setup on my Predators, Raptors and Tiger 50's with no binding and full pos and neg collective. Robbe USA carries a nice swash plate adjustable tool that I was turned onto from Tim Tompkins and it's fits and works great.

Great stuff Foxden, thanks!

Thanks Steve...

For today I justed the pitch curves to make it flyable but I will have to revisit this during the week - want to get the mechanical setup right (symetrical)....

Metal A arm
I dont think century should let anyone fly without metal A arm. That would be one less part to worry about putting your heli in the dirt.
