leslieodell, it sounds like to get your fixed wing ticket the cost is about the same as here in VT, so helis are probably the same as well. Here it costs about $200 an hour, with a minimum of 40 hours (although most people take approximately 50-70 hours), so the cost without books at a complete minimum is $8000.
Also, if you already have your fixed wing, you can get your heli add-on with less overal time (not sure how much). Hope that helps.

Do you have your pilots license as well alan? I've been flying with a friend of mine for a while and am itching to get my license but these darn bills keep getting the way for now.

I do have my fixed wing license so this is just an add on. Out here in Vegas airplane rentals for a cessna 172 is 85 and hour. The R22 is 170 an hour. Should be finished with the add on hopefully next week.

Way to go...
Nice Job Alan...
I remember that day.
Nobody around to take pictures for me though except my lonely instructor standing in the middle of the training field.
Thought about flying away for a few minutes and leaving him there, but he had a radio.

Wish my big butt would still fit in an R22.
No other helis around here to train in and I miss rotory flight.

Hi, Alan..

Great work!
I was lucky enough to get an hour of dual in an R 22 a few years ago, and found my rc heli experience translated very well into flying the real thing...
Still was a touchy beast though...
Please keep on being an inspiration to the rest of us!
