Im going to be using a hacker c40 13t (kv aproximatley 3300) with gp 3300 nimh. What pinion will I be needing to use?

It's a bit complex but is should sort you out.

I'm using the C40 8L that from memory has a kv of 3750. Using 9.6v nicads i use a 16t pinion. This gives me a nice HS of 1820.

I had a look at the spread sheet and I have no clue how to use it . If you use a 16t pinoin and your kv is 3750, then I am gussing I need a 17t, (headspeed about 1750) or would I have too much bogging? If I use a 16t then my headspeed will be about 1650 (as your headspeed is about 1/2 your kv). I am very confused. Any help would be greatly apreciated

You will need a bigger pinion to get the HS up, althought this will result in greater likelyhood of bogging. I would think the thing to do is to buy the pinion set and try out a couple of different configs.

You will want to pull at least 250Watts out of your batteries regardless of the configuration. If you go 10S of GP3300, you will load them with ~24Amps which will result in a voltage of ~10.5V. The engine RPM will be ~33000RPM. Gear ratio is N:281 (N is the number of teeth in the motor pinion). To get a head speed of 1900 (for a nice crisp response) you need 33000*N/281=1900 => N=16.
I would also try N=15 and N=17 - you may have problems when the batteries are half empty with head speed lowering too much (go to 17t) or with the motor current consumption too high (got to 15t).
Run time will be around 7-9 minutes .
