Hello everyone, I have recently found on inspection that the bearing in the swashplate of my Extreme feels notchy. Is there somewhere I can buy a replacement bearing and if so what is the method to fit it? Or do I have to buy the whole unit from MA @ $77???

Thanks

Send the swash back to Miniature. I think they charge about $35 bucks to rebuild it...

Hey man, why does my lipo get bigger every time I charge it?

Give Miniature a call and they can send you the bearing and you can press it in yourself. I have replaced a couple this way. Real simple procedure.

A year or so ago John Benario, ex Min Air rep now Century (I think) wrote in his "Hover" column in RCM some excellent Fury heavy maintenance procedures. One of them was replacing the Heim ball in the swash. I quote John's article:

"The swashplate Heim ball (spherical bearing) wears steadily and at some point needs to be replaced. MAS sells that bearing but notes that it must be factory installed. Every time I read something must be done by someone else I do my best to figure out how to do it myself. In the case of the swashplate the repair is easy. The press is used to press out the old bearing. After the Loctite residue is cleaned out a bit of hear from the heat gun allows the new bearing to be fitted in by hand. A bit of Loctite 290 is then put on the joint between the swashplate and the bearing race. If the bearing must be pressed into place be sure not to press the ball, but only on the outer race. The outer race from the removed bearing can be used as a pressing tool."

John then goes on to tell that he got his bearing part # SKF GE 10C at mdmetrics. (www & com removed)

I tried this on someone elses swashplate (since I have a press) and it worked great except I used a little heat gun heat to aid in removing the bearing as well as installing it.

Good to read the post of the SWASHPLATE brg, sounds like an easy fix. I dont see where the comment about the auto rotation brg assymbly applies here. that is a whole different topic. This is a good thread, glad to read good info.
Thank you Capebob for your Post.

77.00 to replace or 35.00 for a rebuild
I think that is inline for thequality of the unit. I can Handle that. the 200.00 for the auto rotation thing is a bit steep. but that isnt the issue, I hope Davo can get his swash repaired soon. Under 100 bucks would be great.
