Ok so I have completed building my Sport Hawk and need to put in the electronics. I have been looking at the Futaba 7CHP and the JR6102 both are about $300.00. I also have been looking at the GY401 Gyro\S9253 combo.

My question is are the Hitec and Airtronics radios sets any good? Do I have to spend $500.00 to get a good combination of TX\RX\GY\SRV?

I notice that the price on the Hitec and Airtronics is cheaper that the JR or Futaba radios.

And if I do go with Hitec or Airtronics, which one is the better one for my money? I do like the feature of being able to hold multiple settings for many different helis or planes so this is a must.

Wife is willing to spend the $300.00 for the radio, but I would like for some of that to go towards the gyro and digital servo.

Any suggestions?

A JR 6102, Futaba 7CHF or the Airtronics RD8000 will cost about $299.00 and a Futaba 401/9524 servo will set you back around $200.00. So there isn't going to be any leftover after buying the transmitter. Do yourself a favor and save some money. Buy a better transmitter and you won't need to upgrade later. You might be able to buy a used transmitter and used 401/9254 gyro for only a $100 or $200 more then the $300.00 you have? Take your time and look around for a deal.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

If you want new, under $250, you could get a Hitec Eclipse. Works great for me, run GV-1 and GY401 together without problems. But in the long run if you're ever going to do scale (with retracts, lights) it would be better just to bite the bullet now and get a 9C or 9303 (not sure on the price of this one). You can get them used for well under $300, I think there was one going for $205 earlier in the week.

As far as gyro, get the 401/9254, you'll be extremely happy with it. I know I love mine. Look for some deals, you can probably grab one for $150-180 used if you want to save just a few bucks. They're soo good they don't come down all that much.

they have radios, servos, gyros etc..id go with the 9c...i have one, and love it. Remeber, you will change helicopters alot, but your radio shouldnt change around....get a good radio from the start, instead of upgradeing it later
