hey
on a recent crash...the antenna got chopped off and i am pondering on what to do...
it's an Aitrtronics RD8000 and i have a GY401/9253.....someone said you just buy an antenna yourself....open it up and then sauder it yourself....that sounds kind of stetchy to me
i really dont' want to upgrade to a quick uk whip antenna or anything cause it's only a raptor 30v2 and doesn't need the upgrade
i plan on calling Airtronics tom and seeing what they can do....anyone with an Airtronics reciever experience with this before and what did you do???

Let me know

Thanks

If you are uncomfortable soldering, you can send the receiver in to Airtronics. Their turnaround times are good and their service fees are fair.

All you need to do is make sure that you have 40" of wire on the RX and put some shrink tubing on the joint if you solder a wire back on to the remaining length from the RX.

you can always put a base loaded antenna on like i did when mine got wrapped up in the swash and cut it off. they are chaep about 12 bucks and you can do it yourself. for probably less than the shipping and cost of airtronic fixing it. just my .02

yes its a small antenna about 7-8 inches long that. you crimp on the connector supplied with it and plug in the antenna thats assuming you have about an inch or two left of the original antenna still attached

if you have a inch or two left of the oringinal antenna you strip off the insualtion about 1/4 inch or so from the end and crimp on the supplied connector and then plug it into the base loaded antenna. then just find a nice spot to mount it on your heli. usually under the canopy on mine. some guys mount it on the top of the skids i got mine from rcheli.com since they are fairly close to me and they cost about 12 bucks sorry no pics but its really simple

or you can buy a brand new antenna for about $2.00 and replace it, all you need is a soldering iron and 5 minutes. just a thought

I accidentally cut the aerial lead on my Concept 30 a couple of years ago. I stripped out the black wire from some 13 AMP mains cable and SOLDERED that to what was left or the original lead.

NO PROBLEMS

Wonder what would have happened if I'd used the red wire.........hmm
