Can some one explain to me the advantage of the "stretch" upgrade. Isn't this heli underpowered as it is? It takes more power to swing longer blades right? It seems to me the only the way the longer blades are going to work is with a HV setup.

Ok, you say it is underpowered, what setup was used in the T-Rex video from the Aligh website ?

I haven't recieved mine as yet but I've been following this forum for quite a while now and what I'm reading is that it's ok for sport flying but underpowered for 3D. That's one problem I think I'm seeing: what is "underpowered" for one person is just fine for another. Also where's the line between sport flying and 3d? I think of sport flying as circuits, stall turns, loops, rolls. I think of 3d as tic tocs, funnels, piro flips. Not trying to high jack the thread just thought I'd throw that out.

They use the 400S/2800 with 3S 1900mAh Align LiPo's on the 315mm wood blades with a Gy240 and Align 6G servo for the tail and Align 9g servo's for the other controls.
This set-up looks to me like it will be more than adequate for 90% of pilots out there.

My stretch should arrive early next week, I'm going to try it with Align 400 motor & ESC, Multiplex 3/1-1500-m6 Li-Po, I'll let you know how it goes - IF it goes!

What is the purpose of the strech kit - apart from making the boom and blades/belt longer.....

What advantages will it have ?

Basically, one of the guys testing out the T-rex found out that with the same power system, its more efficient to use longer boom and blades.

Of course your max amp draw will increase at max lift, but your max lift is bigger than before, also at the same lift, longer blade use less power.

That's basically why then came out with this kit, so that you'll have a more efficient setup and bigger max lift(to pull through menuvers.).
