That's very descriptive. What's it do or not do?

The site says it needs online updates to install the full cd to my HDD. I did and it didn't work as stated.

I have spent like the past 4 hours trying to figure out this problem. I could use those wasted time to practice on my G2....

Also, is there anything I need to configure in my PC so I can run the program smoothly?

Sorry that I was not clear with my first post. Was really busy with work and everything.

OK, I have RE-INSTALLED the software and have updated the G2 as required on the site to the latest update (2.00.723) so I can install my G2 to my Windows 2000.

The error message comes out again as follows:
KEError 39842. Error 998 Copying File. Bytes read: -1, Bytes written: 0

Then it is :
KEError 32494. Please contact technical support if the problem persist.

Well, I figured that it is going to cost a bomb for me to call up Realflight in US (as I'm in Singapore) and being put on a queue which only god knows when it would be my turn.

I really need help, guys!
Alfie

P/S: you might see this identical post on Realflight also. I really needing all the help I can get from anywhere, everywhere.

Haven't come accross that error but try copying the cd to your hard drive first and then install it, it could have trouble reading the disk. But what you are saying doesn't make much sense, when i last installed it, I installed it, updated it then ran it use it. Not too sure what you mean by installing again in win2K

Hi DM!

Thanks for replying!

I was reading and searching for more info on Realflight site and found this one. It says that in order to install the G2 in a Win2K, I'll have to do an online update first before the I run the program as the last part of installation.

Do you think I am having the disc problem? Will copying the whole cd of data to the "realflight" folder help?

Once again, thanks in advance!

Well the error says, error copying file. The computer may have trouble reading it from the cd. Just a thought.

Stephen,

Ok. I'll try to copy it first and see if it works. There seems to be some light scratches, with 1 that's really deep.

Copy everything from the disc or just the RFV2.DCK file over to my HDD??

Thanks!
Alfie

P/S: You using Win2K, I presume?

just copy the whole cd in to a folder on your desktop then install the whole program from there.

The program will start to finish up the last installation and from 0% to somewhere at 435mb mark, it would start to show signs of problems.

If you can't copy the contents of the cd over on to the hard drive than your disk sounds like it is damaged. Give it a good clean with a soft cloth and see if you can get the scratches and finger prints out. Try copying the contents one folder at a time to see if you can find the file that is causing the problem, there will probably be more than one. If it's just one or 2 small files, somebody might be able to email them to you Other than that you may have to send the disk back to knife edge for a replacement if they will do that.

I have used the soft suede cloth to clean the disc. It is the same cloth I used for my camera lenses....

No way I can copy that RFV2 file. Everything else is copied over but just not that RFV2.

I strongly believe that the disc is gone. It simply hangs at 431.4mb mark and gave error messages.

Anyone knows whether I can do an exchange with Realflight for a new disc?

You are going to have to contact Hobby Services @ Great Planes would be my guess, or try contacting Knife Edge Software Directly.
