I know the 14MZ has been discussed to death here, but today I noticed it's mentioned on slashdot. Pretty much the same comments are posted there as we see here. "expensive" "blue screen of death" "I'd never buy that" "windows CE is a joke" blah blah blah.

The most exciting part about this radio is the ability for anyone to write custom software for it since it operates on standard windows CE.

Think of the possibilities! Use any available channel to transmit data (ie heat, rpm, forward speed, anything) down to the TX and have a custom UI to display the information in anyway you choose.

Customized UI for standard TX info. Don't like where the timer is? Move it!

The possibilities really do make it almost worth the $$...

I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion dCypher, I'm pretty sure it's like any other R/C system in that its a one way transmit/receive link. You can only send commands to your aircraft, not the other way around.

true, the Tx is probably one way... I got over excited.

But all the modifications local to your TX are defenitely doable.

Slap a USB of BlueTooth port on it and the sky's the limit!

And talking about the blind leading the blind. Why don't people just go read about it?

The windows systems doesn't do any of the essntial radio functions. It's just provides the pretty face. The mixing etc etc are all still done by an old fashioned microprocessor system just like any of our other heli radios.
