I hope it does work. I might have taken their words the wrong way. I should have never bough the himax. I have a 400DH. It is a great motor. I had one on a Shogun I sold. It was the best motor I ever owned. Yes your right. Vinnie will reply to your emails within minutes sometimes. I dont have a shogun anymore. I wonder if the 400DH would be enough for the T-Rex. The stock T-Rex motor is an outrunner. Its a bit larger then the 400dh though.

What's the KV on the Trex motor?
They changed the rating on the 400DH. All past and present are now rated at 4400KV!

It is now 8 weeks since I sent in my motor and still nothing, Arggghh, I have to tell you this sucks. My Astro Flight 010 H for my HB broke. The top popped off. I sent it in last week. They just sent me the tracking number for the replacement. There turn around time was about 2 weeks. What are the people at Himax doing over there? They must just let these things pile up and then when they feel like getting around to it they actually do something. I have another broken Himax here and I would send it in but at this point Im so dissapointed with there service I might as well throw that motor in the trash. Ill be dammed if Im going to pay them 30 bucks and wait several months for a new motor. It aint worth it.

We just ran the 400DH in the TREX. Here's the following to date:

Stock T-REX 450X
315mm wood blades
Like90 8 tooth long pinion
CC 25 ESC
GY240 gryo
TP3S1320 New Generation

The REX shot off at full collective and climb out was quicker than a Raptor 50 with no noticed bogging/loading of motor. No 3D flying done - only hard sport flying. After the test flight of the 400DH the following was observed:

The motor was only slightly warm - 100 degrees? guess by finger contact.
The battery and ESC were the same approximately. Didn't have our laser temp gauge with us for accurate temp readings, but nothing was above being luke warm to the touch.

Now, bear in mind on this also. We are located in NE Ohio and the temps were in the 40's. No doubt having cold air available to all components involved will certainly help the heat issue, but to what degree would merely be speculative. I will say that I didn't think the 400DH would be capable of such a climb out and flight performance with no noticed lag or bogging, but it did.

Would say that this warrants more testing and a much closer look than previously done as a good possibility for the T-REX. Remember that this was also done on a 1320 Lipo. I would have figured that a 2100 would have been a minimum needed, but again - seeing is believing. Would like to know how this setup would repond in 70-90 degree temps as these are ideal flying temps when outside during the summer months here and at peak flying times. I have a Mega 16/15/3 with 13 and 14 tooths available and will try to do some comparisons between the 2 motors and respective pinions. Any other experiences or thoughts about the 400DH for the T-REX?

GTMAX,
This doesn't surprise me abit. This motor is a real powerhouse no?
As far as temps go I have been running this motor since early Oct when it was much warmer and had no issues with heat. I feel that since it's an outrunner with the big holes in the bottom of the very fast spinning can ,heat is dissipated very quickly unlike sealed can types with the added weight [small for sure] of the heat sink with little to no air going through the inside of the motor.
I knew it would power the TREX very well even with it's weight.
I use it on a Shogun with a TP2100 and all I can say is ,wow.

I wish I hadnt sold my 400DH with my shogun. It was a great motor. Thanks for keeping us posted on how it works in a T-Rex. I was out at the field today with my T-rex. I must have seen at one point 8 T-rex's out there total. I had two of them. Everyone even the nitro pilots are giving in and getting one. Its so funny. They used be like get that elctric thing out of here. We would argue for a moment about were an electric helicopter should be flying. Well after some growing pains the electric helis and the nitro helis have learned to coexist. I love my T-Rex I have 30+ flights on it and not even a scratch on it. Knock on wood. I fly with the Align 2500 motor. I like it becasue its very similar to the 400DH but its a bit heavier and probably a bit more powerfull? Also the kit comes with a bunch of pinion sizes that fit the align motors main shaft.

Thanks

I have about 30+ flights on my T-Rex. I have dissasembled it 0 times since I got her flying. If it was my Shogun I would have spent hours trying to make it vibration free and replacing stripped gears. I fly in a grass field and if I landed near any tall grass you could kiss those gears goodbye on the Shogun. I land my T-Rex in the tall grass on purpose just to watch the tail chop the grass. Might not be the smartest thing to do but It was impossible with the Shogun. For me I want something reliable and able to help me take my flying to the next level eventually. The T-Rex is a micro Raptor from what I hear. It is a heavy micro because it wasnt designed to be a micro it was just scaled down. They took a very succesfull and proven design and scaled it down. Thats why the T-Rex has been such a hit. Align doesnt get the credit for engineering it. The ripped off the design. I personally dont care who came up with as long as Im allowed to have one. I wish the Shogun had worked out. I ended up selling most everything at about a 50% loss. It was still a smart move. I have what I originally wanted. I relaiable EP heli that I could fly almost anywhere. Its a shame the Shogun cant compete with the T-Rex when it comes to reliablity. The shogun just was to much of a pain to keep it flying properly. I spent a fortune on upgrades and I never got it flying as good as my T-Rex. To try and keep this on topic by the way. I GOT MY MOTOR BACK FROM HIMAX FINALLY.

Im not sure what to do with it since I have replaced it with the Align BL motor? I guess it will make a good paper weight for the time being.
