I was wondering if anyone has taken there helicopter on an airplane. A lot of people told me they had, so I build a big crate, for my camera ship (Vario-Gasser). At LAX they asked me whats in the box - "Camera Heli", the next imediate question was "What kind of engine?" - "Gas, but I cleaned it, and sterilized it all"
I flew with United. They wouldn`t let me take it. I talked to supervisor, telling them I take it all the time, no chance.
How do you guys do it, do you call ahead, request a special permit, is there a trick besides lying about whats in the box.
I ended up taking the main frame and engine out of my 4'x2' box, and had it fedex`s for $210. The rest I took with me in my crate
I did exidentally forget to remove the gas tank which was on the camera mount, and it ended up flying with me and the box. So I guess I cleaned it well enough for inspection.

You can have it all, you just can`t do it all.
