I took some photos of a local golf course club house. They liked the photos enough to say they wanted pictures of their holes (English members please refrain rude comments).
Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this type of job? I am thinking a high oblique from just behind the tee area which includes the hole's flag.

Could be hard..
Some of the courses around here have REALLY long weird pars.
I would do a couple test shots, but you might have to do more than one image per hole.
Behind the Tee is where I would start though.

Don't forget to try some video for them. They might just go nuts when they see the hole from a golf balls point of view.

Not totally sure if it is legal in your state to get a video of the hole from a balls view?? Actually I have had the same thought for doing some of the courses in my area. If you do get some video, could you post some tips or tricks both for filming and editing, I don't want to end up in a sand trap on a dog leg!!!

ask them what them want overall hole views or expanded detailed shots. Clarify their expectations THEN deliver.

You may want to check with Jody of helicam. He was specializing in golf course photography/video.

Hi FLAP,

My passion is filming golf courses and with 20,000 courses in the U.S. and triple that outside the U.S., it is a huge market! I have some video on my website of flyovers and testimonials from the course as to the marketing benefit of a marketing CDrom for the course. Go to my home page and click on video.

Marketing to golf courses is a little different because their normal method of marketing is "build it and they will come". Most courses do not even have a website! I am in the third year of a business plan to bring a video web travel magazine to market for golfers to plan a vacation anywhere in the world.

I am building mounts for the express purpose of building a network of helicam pilots capable of filming courses and getting broadcast quality video and stills. I have setup a dedicated Windows Media streaming server for the video and the website should launch this spring.

Your course will probably only want stills for now since it is winter and not many want flyovers done until the grass and trees are green.

My phone number is on my website if you would like to call and discuss your current project.

Janek,
Because I am a Scouser and I would have responded with a rude comment. My apologies Gwallace1 who responded with the appropriate witty comment.
