State of Confusion

My Posts: All  Forum  Topic

I just switched my browser from IE to Mozilla, here's the problem:
With IE when I scroll down a page, then click a topic, then click "back" it goes to the same spot I scrolled to on the main page. With Mozilla when I scroll down the main page, click on a topic, then click "back" it returns to the top of the main page instead of where I had scrolled to previously.

Is there a way to fix this?

I don't know if there is a fix for this, but you're right and this is my only complaint with Firefox. I'll look into it now that I know someone else is having the same prob.

Yeah my Firefox does the same thing, so I always right click on it and open up a new window to look at it, then I close that window when I'm done looking at it. It would be great to find a fix for this problem?

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I have that problem too somtimes. About 2/3 of the time it will go back to the right spot. Annoying, but Firefox makes up for it with the extra mouse controls.

I have been using Avant for a year and think it's great. Very customisable. I have trialled Firefox and IMO it doesn't come close to Avant.

I have no trouble viewing any site.

One wierd thing I have discovered with Firefox is that on some pages it will go back to where you started, but only if you let it completely load first.

Peter I was thinking of changing from MS IE
do you think Avant would be worth the new learning curve
for the additional security it has?

Thank God for < Hijackthis > The Elite tool bar took over my
system a few times and this program helped me find the hidden
entries

I guess the reason Avant has given me now grief is I think it's basically a skin to IE but with lots more options and customisations. It's a small download too.

No harm in trying it Ted. I think it's great compared to Firefox. Plus it has tabbed browsing as well. I have not had any trouble with it. It also includes pop blocker and ad blocker

Yeah, I noticed that too - and I noticed that it happened most if I didn't scroll all the way to the bottom of that "second" page before I clicked "back". Now that I'm scrolling all the way down the second page, it happens very infrequently.

If any of ya'll try this out, let me know whether it works for you - or whether I'm just goin' crazy in here!

Thanks for all your responses. I have tried to let the page fully load, still does not work. I have also tried to scroll all the way down to the bottom, still does not work. Crazy? maybe? I've been searching the Firefox homepage for a solution, extension maybe?, but haven't come up with anything yet.

You can download the program here:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
During installation it will prompt you to move your favorites list, which will now be called "Bookmarks". Not sure about e-mail as I still use Outlook.

When you download it it will import your favorites and set up your e-mail if you are using Outlook. I don't know if you are using another e-mail program.
