I just bought the HeliHobby Titanium 40mm tail shaft. After mocking it up to fit, I really notice how much larger it is than the stock shaft. There seems to be a lot of surplus length after mounting it and wonderwed if the shaft should be centered with equal length of material protruding from the hub/rear bearings or should the hub be flush and the shaft protrude just from the rear bearing (weight offset) ?? Most pic I have seen of this shaft do not have any offset, are they trimmed?

Also why is the length that much longer? Do some of the after market sliders use a longer throw?

i bought their "Hornet Aluminum CNC Tail Slider with Blade Grips System". it takes up all the room on that 40mm shaft. not longer throw, i think the slider arm just takes more length.

i've used this shaft on stock sliders and have not noticed a difference which side you balance it out - i usually put the excess on the tail gearbox side...

One other question regaurding the tail's Bell Crank arm. I am using heli hobbies aluminum arm on their aluminum gear box. I noticed when I tighten the attachment bolt that it binds the arm. Is this common? should I just slightly sand down the gerbox/arm surface area or should I loosen the screw and us locktight??

never used it myself (those HH parts). i'd try locktite 1st and if too much slop, you can try sanding a little at a time and re-fitting. makes sense to me anyways..

pivot post for BB pitch slider on this part FELL OFF while flying. heli went spinning to the ground. minimal damage. good thing i didn't proceed w/a high altitude climb which was going to be the next manuever. repairing part now but u should beware of this "upgrade"
