well, first off you need to figure out how and in what modes you
want it to work.

The easiest way is (if the 8103 setup is any guide)
connect the REM lead to Aux3. Aux3 should
track the flight mode setting.

You'll probably want to setup a mix so that
when you're in certain flightmode, you have a
certain ATV value.

As you change the ATV value, you should be
seeing the LEDs change.

Hi Stick twiddler

I found the easiest way to set up the Revlock on the 9x was to use it with the flight mode switch this saves using up mixers, and the fact that the Revlock “ramps up” means it’s a smooth transition when flicking from one to another if you have different headspeeds set in each idle up

To do this you will need to plug the governor (marked REM on the Revlock) into AUX 2 on your receiver. After you have calibrated the Revlock as per the instructions go into the GYRO SENS menu on you transmitter if it says INH enable it and select AUTO. You should not have 2 side by side menus as below:

.....................................NORM: Pos. 0
Pos.0 50%..................ST-1 : Pos. 1
Pos.1 86%..................ST-2 : Pos. 2
Pos.2 12%..........................................
.......................................HOLD: Pos.0

The right hand menu is the flightmode switch position and the left menu is what atv you want to set it at. If you set Pos.0 to 50% the Revlock wont be armed and will let you transmitter have control of the throttle anything either side will arm it as long as the throttle is above 30% ish this way you can use 2 revbands and different engine speeds in each. So above 50 – 100 will give one range and below 50 to 0 will give another.

Aux 3 works for 8103, PCM 10 etc but not for the 9x it uses aux 2

Hey there mate,

Sounds like a great idea.. but i think i'm using AUX 2 for the Gyro?? is that correct?

so in the GYRO SENS menu.... i've got it set to (RUDD D/R)

ie, i use the top left switch to turn the gyro on or off................

do you know what i'm meant to do then?

sorry, i'm a bit of a n00b esp to governers......

if i do plug in the revmax to the aux 2 and set them to match revs PER idle up mode.....

what do i do with my GY401?

cheers mate

I recently purchased the RevLock, and i have a JR 9x....never owned a governor before...

I did it this way:
I put the Revlock on AUX4, and set AUX4 to follow the flight mode switch. Then you can set the headspeed in normal mode with travel adjustment, set the headspeed for idle up 1 with sub trim, and idle up with travel adjustment.....

You got to remember that if you change sub trim, the travel adjustment will change too.

My current settings are:
Mode A on Revlock is normal flight mode, then the RevLock is not engaged. So no LEDs are lit(sp?) in this mode....

Mode B is idle ip 1 and 2, and i have my subtrim at -126 and the travel adjustment for that side on 0, so settings for idle up 1&2 are the same...

So when i want to change my headspeed for flight mode 1 i just change the sub trim.....

sorry for my ignorance, but how do you set the headspeed?

i dont quite understand...

"Then you can set the headspeed in normal mode with travel adjustment, set the headspeed for idle up 1 with sub trim, and idle up with travel adjustment....."

how do you do that? can you set 3 separate headspeeds for each mode? travel adjust for Aux4?

cheers mate

you normally set 1 headspeed per flight mode, but you can have more by mixing other channels into aux4.....but no need for that at our level.

you have a menu called travel adjust on you radio......just below sub trim menu. You have 2 "sides" to adjust wit travel adjust, the + and the - side. Just as you would do with travel adjust for a servo.

use the instructions that came with the revlock to set your headset....nice/easy instructions in the manual.

Setting headspeed is better explained in the manual than i can do here...

Lozza6, the ATV adjust for AUX 4 is under 'TRVL ADJ'. AUX4 is automatically linked to the Flight Mode switch by default. (This is assuming that you have your Gyro Sens running on Rudder D/R).

From another post: Use an offset of subtrim [of AUX4] to achieve the desired speed in Flight-Mode-1 and adjust the low / high ATV [of AUX4] for normal and flight mode-2. The only point to be aware of is that if you change the rpm of Idle-up 1, it will also change the values of Normal and Idle-up 2. So be sure to re-adjust the ATV's to suit.

Hope that helps, K22

mate that does help thanks.....

with this though, you arent able to set a idle 2 speed slower than your idle 1 hey?

i'll just go with something like

norm 1500
idle 1 1960
idle 2 1960 with 100% flat throttle curve (am running the revmax)

Hi.

I think you guys should all step back up this thread and do the simple easy and effective way as clearly explained by Sceadu abuser.
Sounds like a great idea.. but i think i'm using AUX 2 for the Gyro?? is that correct?
use the gear channel for gyro. With pcm9 you can move the gear channel around if it is in the wrong place for you.. Electronically.

his way works. so well. and is simple... no need for clever mixers etc..

go for that..

Hi Simon,

The way you have suggested sounds good too, but how do you assign Gyro Sens (Aux 2) to the Gear switch. In the Device S. menu there is no option for Aux 2 to assign to Gear? I am thinking that you mean to assign Gear SW to Rudder D/R, then plug the Gyro Sens into Gear on the receiver as opposed to Aux 2... in which case this is a blinding idea! Never thought of doing it that way before

Thanks, K22

OK, so I've re-assigned the Gear switch to Rudder D/R, that works OK, but how do I set up the ATV's to work with Gyro? I normally run 88% Pos. 1 & 12% Pos. 2 on Rudder D/R. So now I am working with Gear ATV's instead, do I assume that would make it +88% (76%) in HH, -88% (76%) in Non-HH?

Any help appreciated, K22

The only issue with this is that you are limited to using one speed range.
One of the reasons I am now attempting to set up using Sceadu Abusers method.

It would appear sceadu abuser is not around at the mo to answer your further questions.
If you assign gear channel to a your heading lock gyro, either side of 0% is a different mode.
So 88% one end will be HH and -88% will be the same gain but not HH.

This should be the simplest and most usual method of setting a gyro up.
As far as I understood it, (because I used a 10x not a pcm9) you can make the gear channel work on the top left front switch which is real handy. I beleive it is by default on the front right, and inset which is not to easy to swtich.

So yeh, if you assign the gear switch to the top left switch then use Aux 2 which is labelled gyro mode but works equally well for govenours.

Re read as per Sceadu abusers and you have a govenour that hides in the back ground behind you flight mode switch and an easy to flick gyro / gear channel switch top left.

Thanks Simon, it was the Gear ATV I was really stuck on. I have already re-assigned the Gear switch to Rudder D/R (top left) and have FM running Aux2 in background so hopefully all should work!

k22.

Sorted.. gain should be easy to set on gear channel. Govenour will work great on Aux 2.. Real simple setup re Sceadu Abusers advice.

Looks like he has dissapeared for the time being.

Looks that way. Still his advice on this was excellent. Although there are a number of ways to set up the revlock, so far I think his way (had he mentioned Gear SW re-assignment) has been the easiest so far
