My LHS suggested cutting a 8T and a 9T pinion so that you could install both running the 8T on the main rotor and the 9T for the tail when using the Himax 4200. I have read somewhere that the shogun tail performs better with the 9T so I see some logic to this.

My question is whether anybody has tried this and if so, how did you like it?

hi
a while back it was hard getting the long pinions and ppl were getting standard length pinions and stacking them and mixing ratios , if you do a search you shold find a bunch of info , rather then buy long ones just get standard length pinions as i'll bet they are cheaper and you save trying to cut them

I would just order one from Like90 instead of trying to make two work. The chances of that top one coming off would be too great for me. The tail will perform just fine with the 8 tooth, just keep the head speed up as high as you can fly it. I run 2600+ headspeed.

Thanks for the input. I was leaning towards installing the 8T when I heard of this. It seems the general consensus is to stick with just one ratio so I'll do the same. No sense in reinventing the wheel eh?
