That really sucks! Sorry dude

Please tell us you weren't charging a LiPo with that DoubleVision charger...

On the "bright side" (if there is one), you hold the record for the first totaled Shogun where the tail end is still flyable!

It's in the Safety section now.I Had my Triton still set on NIMH from when I charged my RX packs this past weekend.Really stupid!! I really do consider myself extremely lucky though!! My Bergen and XL were hanging directly above it and are unscathed!! Not to mention my VW, Guzzi, etc, etc........ Could have been my garage or my house! Never forget how lethal these things really can be .............very easily! You'd think Kokam would put some kind of temp. safety cut off on these things. This could have been terrible!!

lesson to be learned

It might be worth the time to put a thermaster of a type as a cut out when the battery gets too hot aka on fire.. I am just shooting from the hip, but given from the safety and caution standpoint I might venture to do that. It only takes one time.

interesting photos though,

I almost lost my Fury a year ago from my charger overcharging my 3000mah NiCAD. Luckily I smelled smoke and got the system disconnected. Battery was lost and a few servo wires melted. Scard the sh!t out of me. I am afraid to charge batteries unattended at all anymore. Sorry for your loss.

Really, it is Never recommended that you charge your batteries unnatended. Also not a good idea to charge them in the model. Li-polies must be charged by a by a charger designed for them. The true danger is in their explosive nature if charged incorrectly. I made a dire error in charging mine on the NIMH setting of my Triton charger. This essentially is charging them with the Wrong Charger. Unfortunately I didnt realize this until after it was too late. I had always charged them in my model and sometimes unnatended.....but never again. LIPO's are just on the list of items that if treated incorrectly can Really Bite back! Course, what else would you expect in this hobby? Just about any aspect of this hobby requires such a minimal margin for error that it is almost unbearable......sometimes! Until you conquer it at least!
