The National Radio Controlled Sport Helicopter Association ( NRCSHA) needs you !

We are forming a new National organization designed to cater to you the member. Check out the web site and see exactly what the goals are. If you care to be a part of it we would love to have you. We also need District and State reps as well so if you would care to do more than being a member, positions are available for you to help us get this off the ground. Just by showing your support and becoming a member is a GREAT contribution in itself.

At present there is no dues structure setup and you can get a FREE provisional membership. Upon ratification of the By-Laws and approving a dues structure you will only have to pay the renewal dues fee's what ever that comes out to be.

So jump on in and join the newest organization dedicated to all types of RC Helicopter flying and help to mold it into an organization that we all can be proud of.

Why?

Do we really need another IRCHA?

Why are the goals merely suggestions?

Is there a vision statement?

Do you plan to be a SIG of the AMA?

From the goals on the website:
Additional Insurance above and beyond what is provided by AMA. We are not sure how to go about this and really need some input.
Do we really need additional insurance? If so, why aren't you working with the AMA to provide this.

No offense, I just don't see the point. I see a lot more questions than answers.

Why? Because there appears to be a great number of people who would like to see a new organization of this type

No we dont need another IRCHA, and NRCSHA is not designed to be like IRCHA.

The Goals that are listed have been suggested and since the organization hasnt ratified any by-laws as of yet thats all they are, suggestions. Once the membership votes on by-laws then they will no longer be suggestions.

Vision statement would be nothing more than having an organization that meets the suggested goals and promotes the RC Helicopter Hobby.

Yes, we do plan on becoming a SIG with the AMA.

The additional insurance was made as a suggestion, your AMA only covers a small amount and only after your homeowners insurance covers their max. Those that dont have homeowners might get hung out to dry with no additional insurance. But again like I said it was a suggestion that was made by more than a few people.

If you dont see the point in having an organization that is national, supports and promotes the hobby, and offers events and programs for all of its members then I doubt my reply will help much.

I do appreciate the comments though.

Just a comment on the insurance portion. I have CD'd events where pilots attended from overseas. Their insuranced was limited at 4 million VS 2 million here. I actually was embarassed to request the AMA supplement that is required.
Additionally, the AMA insurance is a supplement only. Any other insurance will be hit first. Several years ago there was an organization called the sport flyers and they had additional insurance. The AMA eventualy shut them down, and always indicated that their (sport flyers) insurance was invalid. Strangely, there was an incident where a person, belonging to both, had an accident. The payout was homeowners, sport flyers, and than finally the AMA picked up the balance.

They were at the time trying to give options for RC pilots with safety at the front. Case in point, AMA mag President's column indicates the high number of fingers and such into propellors. The sport flyers rules specifically banned use of hand propping. They accepted and recognized the AMA insurance, but the AMA would not reciprocate.
In our hobby, extra insurance always helps if it can be provided at a nominal fee.
When do you think you will have a firmer goal/purpose statement posted?

The suggested goals are pretty firm, what I am going to do as soon as I get the site back up is post the provisional by-laws for review so I can get some discussions going on what needs to be in them. We also need to come up with a set of Standard Operating Guidelines that will define how to meet our goals and what exactly they are.

This is a lot of work and I have been getting more and more help so it should start progressing a little faster, I am currently in the midst of a move from GA to MA, the house is just about all packed up and we leave on Saturday, should be there by Sunday afternoon. Hopefully I wont miss much as I will have net access as soon as I get there.

Thanks

Craig
