Metric system has many advantages, conversions by moving a decimal point. Mass, Temperatures, Volumes, Heat capacities... all based on a common unit set. It is better. If we had converted back in the 70's as planned none of us would have to keep track of two sets of tools.

I design and sell a lot of equipment that ends up being a mix of metric and standard because i can't get certain parts in standard and can't get others in Metric. Puts me at a disadvantage no matter which side of the pond it is sold to.

Ya the two sets of tools thing is kinda frustrating. For better or worse, I switched to all metric. That means no american cars. Sure, it meant giving up the 69 'cuda, but in the end the gas milage improved as well as the driving expirence in general.

The problem is that since the americans have so much invested in tooling and manufacturing using a non-metric system, they refuse to convert to a very much improved system out of greed, now way any profits are going to be reinvested in re-tooling when you can get a new yacht instead.

Priceless.

The metric system is the way to go I usto be A Toyota tech, And all my tools at home are all metric. It so easy to tell the difference between 10,12,14,17 or even 19 mm. Bolts and nuts. I can tell at the bolts sizes without even grabing a wrench.

eSmith,
I can not agree with you more about the greed here in the states. What is going on in corporate Americe is disgusting these days. I know that this has nothing to do with helis but I work for a company that just went bankrupt and up to the bitter end they still were top heavy on the management side while all the time we down on the floor were getting hacked to death on pay day.
