Can anyone help me out with this. I didnt put it in the gyro section because I know it is not the gyro.. I have and X-cell custom with YS61 and brand new GY401/9254..

Problem: Tail servo arm rocking back and forth causing a tail wag and real jurky turns..

Here goes. This has happened before when I first got it. But totally different gyro and servo now. The first time I had a gy401 with JR 4123 (or 4321. Cant remeber..LOL). Had this same problem. I thought it was the gyro not liking the jr servo. So I put it on my ECO8. It worked fine on the eco with non digi servo. (HS-81).. So I bought a 9254 and 2nd new gyro for the X-cell.. Worked great with my Eclipse 7 tx! I changed TXs to a new 9C.. Same problem again now!
Gyro sensitivity dose not matter.0%, 100% or anywhere in between will not fix it.. HH on or off no differance. You can watch the servo travel back and forth on its own while just setting in idel up.. Revo is off! deley set to 0 for 9254... I am at a loss!! Anybody have any ideas??

Thanks in advance for your time! James

Did I read correctly, that you have had the same problem with two different gyros?
I'm assuming the servo arm doesn't move when you move the collective up and down with the engine off....
What antenna are you using?
Anything else look like it is glitching?
Does it happen when the engine is idling?
Does it do it in all idle up modes?
Is it engine rpm dependent?
Do you have the gyro switch set for digital servo?
Since it started back up when you changed trasmitters - How are you regulating the gain of the gyro on the 9C? Are you just using the ATVs for channel 5? If so, try 50% for HH and normal mode.

Wire drive or tube drive?

On a dog sled team, if you're not the lead dog, the view never changes.

Thanks!

Thanks guys. I have to run out with the wife for awhile.. Will check back later to see what you think... So far I am going to try a new rx and see if it is noise maybe. It has an older hitec suprem 7ch FM in it right now that has been through a couple plank crashes.. Still not sure why it was ok for awhile and now back to the same thing now . Although, it was the same rx through the whole thing... I also still have some jr servos on it that are very noisy indeed. Not digital...The 4731....Thanks again guys! James

I had an Xcell 60 Custom years ago. I could not get it glitch free until I switched to a Deans antenna mounted on the outside bottom of the canopy pointing forward. Never had a problem after that. Those frames conduct RF noise like crazy and running a full length antenna backwards was impossible for me on that heli....

Well, I looked over everything again and read my gyro manual again..LOL Everything looks ok. I get the constant red light and reset it for center position just to make sure. I put an electron 6 that I have with a deans whipp on it for now. Just want to see if this will fix the problem before I splice the wire for the deans on my new 7ch rx.. It looks fine on the table. No glitches tonight. But the arm moving back and forth would start just after spool up and not when the motor is not running. I will let you guys know if this solved my problem when I have time to spool it up outside.. I was thinking about it. And the rx, servos and switch were the only thing that were on the heli. both times the problem occured.
Thanks again to all who offered thier help.. James

Will do!. I plane to teardown all shafts and rebuild if I cant get it right my next trip to the field with what work I have done.

BTW: I forgot to mention, this is not the alum. bent frames. It is the upgraded Bergen (CF/plexi mix?)
I have heard a few different opinions about the PCM rx..
Should I try that for sure before I tear down? Thanks

tail wag

I had the same issue. I pulled of the tail hub and found the bearings binding by pulling/loading the grips and turning the hub. I removed the brass spacers between the bearings and used thrust bearings inplace of the outer radial bearings.

Hope this helps,

George

Hummmm?

Ok. I put a volt watch on it and now you can see the noise..LOL
I am using a J/R 1400.. The volt meter drops bellow safe when you put a load on it every now and then.. Is that normal? If I get a glitch it would dropp off then back to safe. But that stopped when I put my anttena up. I put a whipp antena mounted outside off a skid. I will try a hover and see what it is doing now. And this is with a different rx.. Brand new Futaba 8C that came with my 9C.. Just FM though..

I built a new tail assy. with new bearings and went ahead and replaced all the tail blade holder bearings also.. I will throw that on if this did not fix it.. I will just goahead and rebuild it from ground up to fit the Hughes 500 and replace all shafts and bearings if the tail dont do help either..

Still chasing it!
