Well ive now had my v2 hummingbird for about 6 weeks and im starting to wonder exactly what i can do with this thing? I am currently running seperates with a DD tail motor and 3030 prop Im running a RD8000 tx with revo and . I plan on getting a gy401 or 240 gyro soon but for now its holding well. I can now hover in all directions as well as basic forward flight. I usually fly at around 75-100 high feet and have no problems doing this as well as piros in both directions. I am now wondering exactly what the FP hummingbird is capeable of doing? can i do rolls? if so how do i do them? just crank it on one direction? ive seen some cool vids of people flying with the CP hummer but ive yet to see anyone really do much besides hover the FP. Anyway if anyone knows where some vids are or exactly what the FP is capeable of let me know!! ill get a raptor 50 soon but for now i wanna push the FP hummer.
thanks

I had a FP dragonfly full brushless with like90 blades, looped and rolled it a few times, pretty easy to do, just make sure you try it up high with some forward speed.

I wouldnt attempt it with stock blades though, i dont think they can take the stress.

Try some 540 stall turns too.

Here's an excellent video by Jiri. This is a Piccolo but a hummer if modified slightly will fly the same. But, you'd need Jiri's skill to do it.
This a good example that there is alot of life for FP helis for new fliers to learn on. If you can do what Jiri does with his FP micro, then when you went with a CP machine all you'd really need to focus on is the collective. You'd have orientations..etc nailed. I think alot of people switch to CP too soon when there is alot that can be done with simple FP machines.

AHM,

Thanks for sharing that video link with us. It was a very good video. For many of us here still flying FP, that video reflects why.

FP is fine with me, and it's less complicated.

Hummer V2

I have a Hummer V2 with over 150 flights. I got Like90 woodies, the Johnson 250 motor with a heat sink, Head stiffner from Like90, the DD tail with heatsink. Also using the Century Piezo (the little white one). You can't beat it! Been doing outside flights in FFF and FF and love it!! It can handle very light breeze - anything more and it can be a bit of a hand full. Very stable and short of 3D situations (due to FP) you can do everything that the bigger birds can do. I love raking mine back and forth full bore and doing stall turns. I'm still running the bird seeds in mine and can get a good 6-7 min. of flight time, mind you that I'm running the tar out of it during this time. I would recommend ditching the standard JST plug and going with the heavy duty JST or the Dean's plug. This will give you better current draw to the motors and help keep them cooler - not to mention better power when needed. Granted, they aren't like the CP's, but look at it this way - easy setup and very durable. I've had about 5 crashes (my fault) and all were "no cost" crashes - a little epoxy goes a long way. First 2 crashes lost the main blades - after the Like90 woodies the days of blade replacement has ended. Be sure to always balance your blades out as it does help considerably. You can't beat these little birds for the cost, setup and maintenance aspect!
I do have an extensive video that can show what these little V2's can do outside in FF and especially in FFF. The previous video shows the capabilities for maneuvering which by the way is quite impressive. My video shows the all out flying speed and high speed maneuvering with outside hovering capabilities in slight breeze. I also cover at the end of the video how my bird is setup. I don't have a server to show the video and only have a CD.
If someone is willing - I could send them the CD and they could up load to a server as the total video is about 16 minutes or so long - shows two seperate outside flights that will show what full throttle all out flying these can do. Between my video and other one posted here, you and others will have a really good idea of the total flight envelope and capabilities of these little FP electric birds.
For anyone that can help out with this for the video - please e-mail me directly at: gtmaxx@peoplepc.com

Have fun with your bird - you would be surprised at what they can do once everything is setup and trimmed out.
