Is the mainshaft 10 or 12 mm? If it is only 10 can you up grade it to 12mm?

Mine is 10mm, so I suppose all the Benzines are 10mm. I'm not sure if you can upgrade to 12mm, but if you could, then you also need to change shaft bearings, swashplate, rotorhead and the like!

Actually, just looking at the latest catalog pages 336-341, I notice the part of the shaft that fits into the rotorhead is narrower on most 12mm shafts, and is probably is 10mm, and hence you may still be able to keep your current rotorhead!

Quite honestly I don't know the answer to the upgrade question or the implicatoins thereof! The best is to contact a Vario dealer or distributor

The Benzin Trainer no. 8301 is a 10mm shaft. The Benzin Acrobatic series 8302 and 8304 are 12mm.

In scale fuselages where long main shafts are required, Vario recommends the 12mm.

>> The 10mm section on a 12mm shaft is actually the part in the autorotation unit. So everything above the autorotation unit needs to change to 12mm.
