I charge 7.2V (6 Cell) 1500MA pack. I set all the parameter accordingly.
I start discharge -> charge process. Since my triton is new I follow the
charging process and notice that the capacity appear in the LCD go over
1700ma so I stopped the charging process.
Is this is a normal behaviour. If yes, how much capacity the battery can
take beyond its real capacity.

Triton Charge Capacity

That is good. The charger should always put in more then it takes out on discharge. Your battery is probably also in top condition.

Yeah!! That is what happened here.

Except it put 1320mah into a 880mah battery. This pack ended up with 13.8v when it was supposed stop at 12.6v. I will never totally trust another Triton.

It also put 2360mah into one of my 1660mah packs.

You have to use charge protector boards with the triton.

They have since sent me a new one but It still killed two of my nice packs.

Nicads take upto 15% more charge than you can discharge out of them, this is a normal feature of nicads (and nimh). My 1700 packs often take about 1950 to fully charge, so dont worry!

If there really is a problem, the battery will become very hot on charge (nimhs normally get quite warm while fast charging, so dont get alarmed if the battery is warm, but not hot, at the end of charge).

Lipos are different in this respect. They should never get even warm during charging, and mah "in" very closely matches mah "out".

This is why I stick to my nihms and nicads, nicads can even be charge at a setting of double their capacity. I also got a diamond charger from a member here..and I like it even better than my triton...it even have presets of your own setups..
