A friend of mine has a Rappy 30. A problem recently developed. That is when the head spead increases over 1650, the blades go violently out of track. (They track perfectly below this spead and the heli has no vibrations.)So much so, that the blade looks like its on edge. Of course the heli shakes violently and difficult to land. We replaced the spindle, and dampers. The swash plate isn't worn out. Any IDs? Thanks

What kind of blades is he using? Some blades, most notably some of the Maverik carbons, have a tendency to be a bit unstable.

Ive also seen a bent screw holding the link ball to the blade grips cause this problem.

Other than that just look for and correct any excess slop in the head.

Mavrick 550s Hmmmm?!!!
I always ask about the blades whenever anybody has violent flutter problems and 9 times out of 10 they end up being mavriks...

I would definitely try a different brand of blades.

Also recheck the spindle. Ive seen flutter bend a brand new spindle. A friend of mine went through several spindles before figuring out it was the blades. (Mav 600 carbons on a 50 V2)

I've had a number of Mavrik 550's, 600's, and 680's. All of them have flown great.

Mike, I think the blades have been changed since Tim had his problem.

A fellow club member just fought this problem with woodies. Seemed to be an accumulation of slop, along with the blades causing it. Check everything for play. Don't overlook the screws holding the servo tray.

Good Luck,
Tom

Thrust bearings installed the wrong way is also a common error that causes tracking problems.

I fly mavrikk carbons with no problems whatsoever.....
I may have missed this but is it the v1 or v2? Afriend has a v1 that flutters at a high head speed and he does not use mavrikks....

the mav. 600 had the woof and poof prob. not the 550s ,that not it. the problem will be your thrust berings are in wrong or not greased good...this is assuming the blades are coming out a little, not like a woof and poof , where you think the helis gonna explode...the spindle could also be bent or the blade grip screw as someone has already said...
