OS50 is now technicaly replaced by the Hyper, correct ??

Other than slapping a different carb on it(which was added to the previous OS50 in the end) and a flashy head on it, what else has been changed ?Anything ??

Does it run any better?
Produce more power ?
Smoother running ??

Is there a point in changing from the OS50 to the Hyper 50.

Thanks

Ryan.

I`ve been flying one for about 2 gallons...doing some moderate 3D and I can`t see the point in changing from a OS50 to a Hyper. The Hyper is in one of my students helicopters and I have the standard myself.... been flying that engine for the last year.
They react just about the same, maybe in the end the hyper has slightly more power, but I can`t compare as I`m running an MP2 and he is running a std. muffler and is still rich.

If you got a OS50 that you`re happy with, just keep it...

Cheers,

Rich

i been running a totally standard 50 sxh (aside from the crank mod) in my raptor for the last 6 months or so and just recently bought a hyper to go into my new evo, i run magnum 30% nitro and to me the difference is noticable, probably because i've always kept the old 40e carb on my 50 sxh, the hyper produces better power, smoother throttling and there isn't any rich or lean spots in the crossover like there is with the old carb, i think the blue head makes no difference whatsoever to be truthfull, though i'm gonna test it out for myself soon, i have another hyper on the way and when it comes i'm gonna try just using the hyper carb first in my 50 sxh, then change to the blue head aswell and see how it works and if there's any noticable difference, i would also recommend the crank mod if you do buy a hyper engine.

the new Hyper head is not just flashy !! it keeps the motor very very cool !! big time !! I had a 60B carb and a larg Weston 50 pipe on my older OS 50, they are now on my new Hyper, my new Hyper is smoother yet faster more powerful than my older OS 50, yet it runs so cool I can put my finger on the head after a full tank for a count of 4, the back plate on my Hyper gets warn and just warm.

well, I can tell you 1 thing, the new head really works !!

and the Hyper is only $20 more than what the older motor sold for.

theres no doubt that the hyper head helps. It clearly has more surface area for the diffusion of heat.

Does it make the engine run any better? Not directly. but maybe as a result of cooler runnings youll be able to run leaner than before. If thats you style...
