eCCPM and Predator. I must be missing something maybe someone can help me figure this out. Why at 50% stick 0 degrees pitch. Is this standard for all eCCPM setups. Suppose I want my pitch 0 degrees at 0%, 5 degrees at 50%, 9 degrees at 100%. Do I first have to set 50% 0 degrees pitch, then go into my pitch curve function and change to get 0,5,9.

Set your linkages so that you can get the full range of travel, then adjust what you want in your radio's pitch curves.

Mechanically the predator has somewhere around 22-25 degrees of pitch change possible. You are always best off making sure you have full range of motion with your servos. You can always go into your pitch curves and set 0 stick to 50% of the travel (likely around 0deg pitch if everything is centered properly)

Doing this in the radio instead of the hardware means that later on when you want to change your setup you only need to redo the pitch curves instead of rebuilding your head.

To summarize - build your predator to -11, 0, +11, then use the radio to set the curve(s) you desire

I was going to take up Origami, but someone said the local club folded.

I still dont get it

If I follow the manual and set the pushrod lenghts by the manual how close to 0degree pitch at 50% will I be? I read one post where it said to mechanically adjust for 0 pitch. Which pushrods do I mechanically adjust. This is really confusing. My Kyosho is eCCPM and all i did was set my afr,s reversed a couple servos , 50% stick I used the pitch setup to get 5 degrees . It hovers fine. The part about 0 degrees at 50% stick , how do you get it is where Im lost. Set it mechanically or use the pitch curve function. I guess as I start putting this Heli together I will have a better understanding. I do appreciate all the help. If I could find someone in my area, that would help.

Tap or Snap,

It's actually what Saboo said and more. It also has to do with the geometry of the eCCPM control links, or bellcranks. You want to get them perpendicular (90 degrees) to the mainshaft when at 0 degrees pitch to make shure you have the most linear movement of the arms, reference each other, which will get the interaction down to a minimum. Interaction being taking a cyclic input with only collective input, and yes, there will be a small amount of it because all servos do not have the same exact output with the same exact amount of input.

A trick on the rod lengths: after you have the servos installed, measure from the center of the arm screw on the aileron and pitch servos to the center of the center screw on the bellcranks. That measurement will be the lengths of those rods, and both rods going to a bellcrank must be the same length. When you get them as close as you can to 90 degrees mechanically, use the sub trim in your transmitter to get them exactly 90 degrees. After you get the bellcranks 90 degrees at 0 degrees of pitch (50% stick), don't change the sub trims ever again. You must trim the heli mechanically, or trim on the from of the trans, or you will loose the setup.

The government cannot give you anything without first taking it from someone else.

Here's a good thread for you to read over. Payton is much better in his expainations than I am.

Thankyou

Thankyou for the help. I understand now. It sure took long enough for me to grasp. I was up all night trying to digest all of this. I feel I can do it.

Regards Jeff
