Subject: Fw: Interesting info about Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into the Program,
3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,
4.) That the money the participants put into the independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would only
be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are
getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to "put away," you may be interested in the following:

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent "Trust" fund and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratically-controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US.

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?
A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive SSI Social Security
payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!

Then, after doing all this lying and thieving and violation of the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans
want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!
Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during this 2004 election year!

Amen,
Go forth and preach the truth , you shall set them free .

Plant little nagging truths in their lying little world .

Then perhaps , it will be all to clear that Bush is a pretty good leader and kerry is the great
MASTERdeBATER.

Mr. Bater ,
If you asked me ,I'd say privatize mine, I'm sure I could do a better job than you .

Its funny when people whine about the liberal media spinning things but believe every piece of spam that comes into their inbox if it agress with their view. This spam happens to have some false statements. A 30-second search on google would give you the actualy story.

For example:

Q: Which party put a tax on Social Security?
A: The Democratic party.
FALSE

Actually, it was Ronald Reagan, a Republican, who signed a bill taxing
Social Security benefits.
http://www.ssa.gov/history/briefhistory3.html
"The 1983 Amendments

In the early 1980s the Social Security program faced a serious short-term
financing crisis. President Reagan appointed a blue-ribbon panel, known as
the Greenspan Commission, to study the financing issues and make
recommendations for legislative changes. The final bill, signed into law
in 1983, made numerous changes in the Social Security and Medicare
programs, including the taxation of Social Security benefits, the first
coverage of Federal employees under Social Security and an increase in the
retirement age in the next century."

The democrats *raised* the SS tax under Al Gore, but did not start it.

Both parties lie.

No doubt,
But one seems to reach in my pocket more than the other.
And one try's to use emotion more than reason .

Like thinking up terms that might get me to agree with them.

Like "for the children or assault rifle".

Perhap when you here them talk you get all teary,
I get angry and wonder whats it gonna cost me .

So the list had a agenda and left off Ronnie .
Oh well.

Aren't we fighting the war on terror "for our children"?

I'm not making a point for either party. I'm just tired of seeing spam full of half-truths being posted as the basis for discussion and quoted as truth.

Gee I don't know, the latest ads saying not to vote for Kerry cause he's a --insert frightened/disgusted voice-- "liberal" seem pretty emotionally based to me.

I think it's all a load of it. No one tells the truth anymore.

I've heard them in massive amounts from both sides. I wasn't trying to state a political view, more that both sides whine and use emotional pleas alot.
