I crashed my raptor V2 today trying to go back to normal from inverted from 50 m high. A total lost, nothing can be reused except for the engine, muffler, gyro and some servos. It might be an underpowered engine (OS.32)or a failure at the pitch servo. I do not want to buy a larger heli because I have a JR Voyager 50 already and I love it. I am thinking about buying another 30 so I can use my old engine, gyro and servos, and I have something that I can fly and take some beating without stress of burning hole in my wallet. With my budget, I am thinking about getting another raptor 30 or Hirobo shuttle plus. Which one do you think will be a nicer heli??? thanks for the advices...

If it took a really hard hit be careful when going back with the same electronics.

Hi

One thing that can cause intermittant problems following a hard impact is the Rx xtal (inside the alloy can it is similar to a light filament and is very fragile!)

For the sake of £5 replace it and then range check the rest of yor kit

Nicads can also be damaged internally due to decceleration and may not hold as much charge.

Not quite what you asked...just thought might be useful

Regards ADAM (experienced crasher!)

Get another one and keep going.

You aren't the first to smack one. The Raptor is good and I would stick with it. You know how it works and you have at least a few spare bits that might come in handy.

If you want a 30 size to continue to practise on then you may want to pick up something other than the Raptor so that you've flown different machines and can make a judgement on what you like. On the other hand, getting another raptor means that some of the items could be reused (if only screws bolts etc.).

But, if you are 3Ding, why go with the 30. You already have a 50, how about a a 60 - 90?????? Move up in the world.

you might be suprized what you really have in left over parts, price out buying frames, skids body etc. before deciding to start over, wouldn't be suprized if the parts to fix it are only about half of a new kit.

I think I'll just stick with the raptor 30. My Voyager 50 is sweet but it's just so damn expensive to fix, so I'll just use it for normal flying, and I think if I can master Inverted with my underpowered raptor 30, then doing it with my voyager would be a breeze wouldn't it???

1. Get the "9Z" as it is the ultimate bling bling "radio" to fly your "machine" also use a "601" along with your "9Z" and tell people!
2. Get a header tank... all helis look cool with one or two!
3. Get lots different colors of neon fuel tubing... all helis look cool with them.
4. Make sure you get lots of aluminum upgrade parts (any color)
5. The OS or YS are the engines of choice and make sure you get one with a "pump" (bragging rights).
6. Throw away the stock canopy and get a carbon one! and get a wicked most exspensive paint job you can get (awsome bragging rights).
7. Carbon.... Carbon upgrades are the key to a succesfull heli flyer (and bragging rights)
8. Dont use nicads get one of the new trendy high capacity battery types.
9. Make sure you use DIGITAL servos... regular servos do not work in helis! PERIOD!
10. Put lots of YS, OS and Coolpower stickers on your heli.
11. Get a regulator (sounds cool when you tell someone you use a "regulator" on your heli).
12. Use 2 PCM receivers so you will have a back up in case one craps out (tell people you use 2 PCM receivers as it will make you out to be an important flyer).
13. Use flourescent colored velcro to strap things down (How do heli flyers even fly without flourescent colored velcro?).
14. Wear a JR, Futaba or Coolpower shirt (so you can hang out with the "in" crowd at fun-flys or look important at your local RC field.)
15. Use a "Whip" antenna and let people know that (bragging rights)
16. Mention "F3C", "FAI" and "3D" alot and even make up your own combination of letters.
17. Spread your legs at least 24" apart while you fly.
