I bought a new G500T gyro and was wondering what the optimum location for mounting would be. I know the Ergos have a plate right above the boom support. Is that a good location??? Or should I have it up by the nose?

Gyro Plate on Ergo

I have a few of my ergo helicopters that I mounted gyros on that plate with no problems at all but on my Ergo 50 with long tail boom conversion I mounted the 500T gyro on the radio tray because it is tail heavy

I like to mount them under the cabin, because it helps keep the oil and dirt off them.

I came, I saw, I hovered

On my Ergo 50 i have it mounted on the back edge of the radio tray works out great and it stays clean.

I, too, have an Ergo, 50 size and have mounted the GY 401 on the gyro plate at the back ... no problems whatever ... even with a very rich running TT39, the gyro stays relatively clean and problem free.

But, either location would be fine.
