I have built the R90SE heli and have taken care of all the necessary mods, ie; tail blade axle screws, tail drive tube screws. I have growing concerns about securing the tail tube just by the clamping action of the 4 bolts in the tail boom brackets on a very slick and polished carbon tail tube..Is this an issue for potential tail hurling

Hi Sandy,

I have flown the Rap60 with a carbon tail boom and even when it’s dripping with grease and oil it didn’t gave me any problem.
And never lost a tail boom when turning hard piro’s

If you feel there is a chance of it slipping... you can drill a small hole thru the plastic and the boom, use a short screw (duh) and pin the boom.

I usually do this on my tail cases so they don't have any twist at all.

The tail of the 30 and 50 are belt driven. And the 60 and 90 uses a drive shaft.

I think the easy way is to look at raptors only or rick and look up parts. For the 60 or 90 it will show you the drive shaft. Or you gotta wait until i get home to take a picture for you. Do you have a raptor 30 or 50. Just wondering.

The boom is held by more then just the bolts. There is a key built into the plastic molding that locks with slots/holes in the boom.

You can also use some vinyl electrical tape around the end of the
carbon tail boom to give it a better grip in the tail drive unit
