Ok guys I am reading all about the cyclic rings and have even seen one on here made from the large servo disc. Does any one make these things commercially. I fly a 9CHP.

I have seen the large servo wheel in a picture here on another post, but how does it stay there? are you gluing it in place? The picture that I saw the gimbal had little spikes that hung out into the gimbal hole. I don't have that on the 9c.

Actually it's a snap in fit on my 9C. I chuck them in my lathe and bore to size.

Use the standard futaba servo wheel and make sure its nice and tight on your stick. It has enough spacing to get rid of the corners. No need for those large rings when a small servo wheel on the stick itself does the trick.

Rich,

Talk to Danny he makes them and is in Pittsburgh, or just order one from his site: http://www.customheliparts.com

If you need his phone number, either ask Todd or I.

Each to their own I suppose. I can fly with or without it although I haven't tried prio flipping without it. I suppose you think driving with a seat belt on is gay too, afterall you don't need it, just make sure you don't drive to erratic and crash

i've spent much time in rally cars mate... i would never motor with out a belt...

i can piro-flip all day long... i do not need the ring... i've never used one... i tried once for a few seconds... just gets in the way.
some times i like to go into the corners... certainly would get in the way there wouldn't it...

if you're using the entire ring whilst piro-flipping, then you are doing it wrong...
you don't need that much cyclic....

cheers

Like I said, each to their own and all that. Incedentally I don't use that much cylclic to piroflip, but never tried without the ring was all I said.

Using a ring isn't stupid, it makes perfect sense but just depends on your style of flying. I don't agree with the "if your in the corners your going to crash anyway" crowd because I like doing a flip/roll with the cyclic in the corner, looks cool to me but my heli does it just as well with the ring as with out it.

don't use that much cylclic to piroflip,
which would mean you are not using the ring.... so what do you need it for?

it's a safety feature, so that I don't pop a link off. It's all very well saying, don't go into the corners but anything is possible in a panic to get you out of trouble. This way you don't have to think about it, you physically can't get into that situation.
