I'd like to hear comments regarding the two engines. Specificly, what advantage does the Pro have over the modified? Is there a noted difference?

I am interested as I currently have the Modified G26 on order to use as a camera ship... Is the Pro smoother or does it simply offer more horsepower.

Tried to speak with Mr. Hanson today but never got a call back.

Thanks in advance

Jason

From what I was told, the modded one has his lightened piston in it and the crank is "pinned."

The pro mod has the above done then it is balanced and blueprinted. It is also ported to Hanson's specs.

He will send you whatever model carb you request. He said he works on the carb, too. I am not sure on that one, though.

Try to talk with Bruce again. He was very patient with all my questions when I was looking into my engine.

The Pro is all about power. Give Bruce a call again tomorrow - when I was engine shopping he was super patient with me, and answered questions for me on about 3 different occasions before I finally ordered an engine from him.

I was going to take up Origami, but someone said the local club folded.

Looks like the Pro is the way to go! Thanks guys for all your replies,

Wish I'd known there was a such thing as a "Pro" before I ordered a 231. Thought all of the Hansons were the same (Thanks Chris)

I'll be ordering one from Bruce tomrrow.

IMHO, and I think that Bill might agree, the 231 is the smoothest of the engines currently in use at this time. I know that I am very pleased with mine. Chris has a pro 3D version...and can shed some insight on that.

The modified 26 from Hanson does make more power.....but as for which is the smoothest? Hmmmm....guess we can all compare ours at Sulphur in a couple of weeks !

Your gonna be BUSY if your going to get yours ready for Nov 6 @ 10 AM....

I thought the pro mod was the full kill version?

If he has one with more power I need to chat with him.

I am always on the lookout for more power!

From Hanson's site....

Pro Heli Engine - 14,000 rpm, 4.2 HP, pump bulb carburetor, velocity stack, with cammed-ground slippery nickel ported and lightened piston, balanced - $424.50

3D-Max - 16,800 rpm, 5.3 HP, pump bulb carburetor, velocity stack,
hi compression, ported cylinder with cammed-ground slippery nickel ported and lightened piston, trued, crankshaft, blue printed and balanced - $495

That 3D Max sounds

Chris you have the Pro correct?

I'm going to speak with him in the morning and get the rundown.

I think he has added this to his site since I bought mine.

He said 5.3 hp with his pipe for mine when I bought it.

With the box muffler it has been pretty smooth even with me running it rich.

Tail does not really kick that much any more.

When I swapped the mufflers the exhaust port still looked new and the piston shows very little wear.

@ about a gallon and 3/4 now.

I need to get off my dead a$$ and fix the phasing. I am off a little and just need to retime it but always forget and say to hell with it once I get to the field.

That maybe one of those Friday Fall Fest tasks.

Hi
I am currently useing the Hanson 260 Pro in my Cuatro Gasser Camera ship and it is definately smooth and powerfull
I am running it at approx 10500 rpm and flying 11KG is no problem for it
I think if I was to change the gearing and increase the Rpm np doubt I would get a lot more power but for what I am doing it works great
