I am Building a Raptor 60 V.2 and I decided to upgrade to the UK Metal Swash Plate and Metal Washout Assembly. Things are going well except I seem to have a lot of resistance (Tight Fitting) ball sockets.

I purchased a resizing tool and extra ball sockets, but it seems if i get them to working nice and freely, then they have slop in them and i am afraid of one of them accidently poping off. Just not sure what to do, I feel like I am going to overwork the servo or risk one of the ball sockets popping off.

Are there better combinations of ball sockets for the UK components?
Are all the ball ends the same size ?

Thanks for any help

Lester

You may have the old balls. (black I think). If you e-mail QUK, Budd will send you some new balls. New, not bigger. Bravery comes from the heart, anyway!

The old balls are the back balls the new balls are silver, the newer ball are very slightly bigger than the back.

Don't use the resizing tool just gently squeeze them, they will loosen a little.

Once the machine has been flown a few times they will get better.

Ball Links

I believe I have the new style. They look stainless steel, they are not black.

Is there a preferred brand of ball links for helicopter use?

I used to fly Pattern in the 80's and I know we all used Rocket City Clevis's because of quality and they had a steel pin for the hole in the control horn.

Thanks again

We like the RocketCity links still, but sometimes there are clearance issues on the swashplate, because the links are so bulky. If you use the JR sizing tool correctly, you can resize the links to fit. Oftentimes, the tool needs a mod to work well. A search will turn up some good info. "Squeezing" works, because you are mashing the link out of round, and presenting a limited number of contact points, instead of the entire ball. This "tip" is from that Authoritative Manual, that could use some revisions. The QUK balls are larger than most links, so, changing the balls, or re-sizing the links, are the only options.

Thanks

Appreciate the input.

I will keep working with them. I try to pay attention to those type details because of obvious reasons.
