Need help again, I am putting Extreme together and ran into problem. Got to... "Slide the rotor head down onto the main shaft and align the cross hole at the upper end of the main shaft with
the hole in the head block just below the fly bar pivot bearings (Note: the larger of the two holes is for dowel
insertion and the smaller hole is for pushing the pin back out using a 1.5mm Allen tool)." I have to hit the dowel real hard (many time) to get dowel full in place. It wasn't slide in easy like my Tempest with my finger. Should dowel slide in easy on Extreme or need some force like what I did?
Thanks,
Oat

Oat,

My extreme dowel pin slides in easily. Sounds like something is definately wrong--maybe the pin ore through hole are mis-sized?

The dowel slide into the hole in the head fully when the head is not on the mast. Also, dowel slide thru the hole in the mainshaft when the head is not on the mast? I got dowel in already with mega force by using allen driver with 3-4 heavy tap with plier. Hope I am not damage the head or anything.

In the last 2 years I have built at least 10 furys and out them at least 4 to 5 of them had this same problem. Never bad enough I that I had to change anything but still had to tap on the pin very hard to get it in. If you got it in now I wouldn't worry about it to much. I know a friend of mine had to change the main shaft in his to get it to work. In most cases though it will go with a little force. Remember you do what it to be a little tight.

Sometimes the dowel goes in a bit more easily if you rotate the head 180° on the main shaft.

Pin

There can be several reasons for difficulty inserting the Jesus pin in the Extreme. First, make sure you are inserting the tapered side of the Jesus pin into the head block. Sometimes the hole in the main shaft can have a slight burr on one side which prevents the pin from seating correctly. Passing the same size drill through the hole in the main shaft from both sides, chamfering the hole with a Dremel, or, as Phil said, rotating the shaft 180 degrees usually will fix this problem. On occassion, the hole in the shaft will be drilled off center by the jobber. While the main shafts are checked in house to be sure they are true, one will slip through now and then. You can either drill the hole one size oversize or return the main shaft for replacement. While this is not a common problem, it has happened.

I did rotated main shaft 180 degrees but still doesn't go in. I got it in by hit it real hard. I thinks MA should have better QC. My other heli such as Freya or Raptor never have any problem. My other Tempest was missing parts, manual was wrong....
Thank you very much for your help.
