I just got the new wireless XRB SR (Hirobo Lama) two days ago. It is VERY well made, the gryo works perfectly, and very cute! It comes with charged Lipo battery, charger, transmitter, spare blades, two different paddle weights, and training gear. It is definitely not an outdoor heli (won't take much wind), but it is perfect for those of us to the north to get us through winter. It is almost too stable in that forward and backward flight require you to really push and hold the stick, but as you can see in the video, it will do it. Performance is improved by changing to the lighter paddles that are supplied.

I got mine at Bells and Whistles Hobbies. Damon, the owner, is a great guy who is very interested in customer service. He has just two more in stock. His number is 216-587-7300.

Here is a video - 10MB

Looks like about $309 bucks at Heliproz with about a 15 minute flight time. Sounds good to me.

It doesn't sound loud to me when I'm flying it, but when I tried flying last night after the kids went to sleep the wife told me I had to stop because it was keeping them up....

It may be the perfect indoor heli if you can't fly but to anyone who can already hover and fly around it is a sad excuse for a heli.

FYI it has contra rotating blades so it doesn't use a gyro due to torque cancellation, and therefore has no need for a tail rotor. It is designed to hover only, i think a lot of these will turn up on ebay 'one flight only like new'

Dodger, I suggest you look at the video before you comment. Sure, I can't fly it backwards inverted like my Hornet2 outside, but flying low along the floor and then popping up to barely clear the couch before hitting the deck again like an attack helicopter, or doing backward circuits with the XRB in a small room with walls to hit gives quite a rush too....

damn, someone is a little bitter. I think its cool for those that dont have the choice to go outside in the winter to fly. Too bad you cant program an existing radio for it.

After messing with a tethered lama for a year (unfortunately the electronics eventually decided to pack it in) - gotta say they are a bag of fun for the time or space constrained. Anyone with young kids would appreciate the value of being about to rip around - even if restricted to upright in a room at work or somewhere at home. Way better than just looking at the gas heli's sitting on a shelf all the time.

The best bit is they are very easy to control in a tight space - they don't wander off in ground effect or with air movements - maybe because of the high headspeed on those little foam blades. Maybe they'll sponsor a new generation of F3C wizz's with all the hovering practice !

Actually, if you want to use your own transmitter you want. You can change the crystal in the XRB. I actually like using the transmitter it comes with because it is so easy (no programing, no changing models) and if I travel I don't have to worry about having my $$$ trasmitter stolen.

looks nice, shame they haven't made a mini indoor version of a raptor that will go inverted .. id like that..

either way im not going to buy it because i need to spend money on other things. Id like one through, would be really funny with a skitzo cat in the house.

If it's the same as the tethered XRB then it does have a gyro, plus you can see the LED on the back for the gryo changing colour when the heli is turning, red one way and green the other. The tail seems a lot more solid when stopping than the tethered one I had. Wouldn't mind having a playing with the wireless version to see if it is much better.

Are these any better than the Hummingbird / clones?

Might be just me, but could never get the thing under control

No, it can't fly inverted. It is a fixed pitch heli. However, if you got enough room to flip to inverted, then get a Hornet2. I can fly the XRB in my living room, which is way to small to fly my Hornet2 spinning weighted blades at 2500rpm
