I'm searching for the best video downlink and camera that would be used for broadcast. Any suggestions?
Thanx

Are you interested in recording the video on the heli or on the ground?

For video downlinks there is no better, in my humble opinion that the systems at http://www.blackwidowav.com the range and clarity of these systems are increadable! Small size, amazingly small, and drop dead jawdropping performance, and they are inexpensive to boot. Be sure to get the 8DB circular polarized patch antenna. Stellar lock, even in a fixed position.

Not to mention the owner, Bill is very knowledgeable and his service is equally as impressive.

I just purchased a gasser and am thinking about video and photography but would like to know which is the best downlink where a ham lisence is not needed. I have used a supercircuits package but found out I had to have the lisence to use it legally.

This one works well

http://www.radioshack.com/product.a...duct_id=49-1060

Just did some testing with it today. For 100.00 it works really well.
I am stuck at work or I would post the video.
It has decent range, but it is defiantely Line of sight.
Although it will work ok through some objects like walls, fire trucks, parked cars, etc...

I put the downlink next to the station today hooked to a VCR and recorded the images from the heli about 50 feet away on the ground.
The signal was intermittent there, but soon as I got it to altitude it locked right in.

I look forward to trying it in a more open area with the rx unit closer to the pilot.

John,

With the obvious popularity of your mounts and Black Widow AV wireless downlinks, have you and Bill considered a partnership? It would seem like a logical combination.

Cheers,
David
