No less complicated...
Now worse than the Osprey.. Man what a stupid design.. I can't believe they are allowed to fly.. The guy that designed the thing in this picture must have been a distant relative of the guy behind the Osprey..

For every working design there are usually many failed designs. Back then they were working with a lot less real world experience. Something we take for granted as common knowledge, may not have been back then. Eventually someone had enough insight to get it right, but be careful slamming people that at least tried.
