All I have heard lately is that it is the same as the 601, with modified or new type of sensor. But now mounted in a metal housing I am told that Futaba in japan do not when or if it will be released !

Well, if they aren't going to release the new one I wish they would hurry up and get some 601's to the distributors. I need 2 right now. I've been looking for 601's for several weeks now and still no luck.

Hi,

I just saw the new GY 611 in Japan.
The sensor itself is a little smaller than de previous one (30x30x18mm instead of 34x34x18mm) and it is 5.5 grams heavier than the previous one. It is housed in a aluminium body instead of the plastic 601.
Futaba also developped a new servo for this Gyro: S9256. I have not seen any specifications of this servo however.
In Japan, the recommended retail price is the same than the 601 but I saw that some European shops already offer it for sale at a lower price than the 601.

It will be available very soon.

beyond the new sensor and the new housing, imho the new designed software is the most important change (see also the earlier comparison 401 <-> 601)

just want to know the difference between GY601 and GY611......

as GY601 is already a very good gyro.....but would be interested to try GY611 when it was widely available to the market.

The 611 should have the almost not visible amount of drifting cured.
And comes with a faster and more powerful servo.

Anyone have the scoop on the latest when this gyro might be available? Or is it going to be several more months?

I'm in Japan now.
I went to a shop on monday and they told me it would probably arrive within July.
I'm here until 6 August so I might get lucky.
