I had my old JR PCM10 setup with my Throttle Jockey to enable when in flight modes 1 & 2, when the Aux2 switch was in the up position and disable when in was in Normal flight mode OR when the aux2 switch was down. How do I do this with the 9303?

The Model Avionics website has a brief blurb on setting up the TJ with the 9303, but doesn't include the 'on-off' function you're looking for.

http://www.modelavionics.com/

Click the 'Radio Tips' link and select the 9303.

Maybe this will help. I posted it in another forum...

I've started playing with my 9303 and getting it set up. It has a Governor Mode (GM) and the manual specifically says that it works with the Throttle Jockey, but the instructions aren't very detailed.

From what I gather, you plug the AUX cable for the TJ Pro into the GEAR channel on the RX, turn on the GM and then set the governor values for each flight mode in the GM screen. You set a numeric value for each mode (Normal, ST1, ST2, HOLD) and it uses the same value that it would if you were setting it with an ATV (OIW: if your ATV value is 65% for when the TJ is engaged, you would set the value in GM to 65% in each flight mode that you want the governor engaged. You can also set the value to a different amount in different flight modes for a different head speed in each mode if desired). This much I get.

What I can't figure out is the calibration process. The manual says to leave the gear channel ATVs at 100% when using the GM. This is because the TJ receives its values from the GM in each flight mode.

So what I did is turn GM OFF, then calibrated the TJ Pro using the GEAR channel. Then I turned GM back ON and set the values in the GM screen. I set NORMAL to 0% for no governor, ST1 and ST2 are set to 52%, and HOLD is 0%.

Does anybody know if this is the correct way to do it? I basically just guessed at the procedure and may not have it right.

I love the radio, but the manual is a bit of a disappointment. For one thing, the drawing that shows the switch layout is for the airplane version, even though the manual itself is for the heli version. Also, many of the instructions are vague or incomplete. The instructions and programming are not quite as intuitive as the PCM 10.

FWIW: I wrote that before I had a chance to fly with that setup. I now have several flights and it works as advertised.

You still have to set up your throttle curves, but that's good for safety. I have mine set up with a normal curve in NORMAL mode, a V curve in IDLE 1, and an identical V curve in IDLE 2, but with the governor engaged. That way I can make tuning adjustments with the governor off.

If you want additional heads speeds, you can set up two more flight modes.

Bimmer,

As I recall, the Model Avionics instructions for the TJ and 9303 tell you to do the calibration with the gear channel ATVs set to 100% AND THEN enable the GOV mode on the GEAR channel. This tells the TJ what the 100% limits are on the channel. Then once the calibration is complete, you enable the GOV mode and set the values you want the govenor to run at.

So, in essence, by turning the GOV mode off before calibration, you did it exactly how MA suggests.

Yeah, not too bad considering that I figured it out on my own!
